We offer (2) different PTO Shaft Driven Hydraulic Power Units, 15gpm and 23gpm. Our pricing is a bit softer that what is quoted here. Our Power Packs are also PTO Shaft Driven instead of a PTO PUMP. The hydraulic pump is built into the power pack. We do not use a cooler. The reservoirs are sized at twice the hydraulic flow to control the temperature.

If you plan on using one of these units, you need to consider the size hose required to properly power a front attachment.

I'd like to get a quote from you on the 23.

Michigan Iron unit is cheapest. I like the idea of not having to have an external oil cooler. Looks vulnerable to damage.
$3,995 is more affordable, too.

$500 for the additional cooler setup isn't that much. I suspect there is a good reason for it and you may find out why without one. Keep in mind much of what Erskine and QA sells seems to be for snow blowers, and that means cold weather. If they add coolers for that work in those cool conditions, wellll..... Firsthand experience? None. Just seems logical to me. FWIW

OK, here's what I don't get. Why is it so much more to buy an assembled unit than to buy the pieces? Just looking at Surplus Center, I see that you can get a 9.74 ci motor with a splined shaft rated at 20.8 HP continuous for $225(Surplus Center - 9.74 cu in VON RUDEN MLHS160S4A HYD MOTOR .

A PTO mount pump that's 9.9 ci and rated for 21 gpm and 32 HP is $526(Surplus Center - 9.9 CU IN PRINCE HC-PTO-1AC PTO PUMP CI 540 RPM).

A 25 gallon reservoir is $227 (Surplus Center - 25 GALLON HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR)

Allow another $500 for hoses, fittings and a valve and you're out the door under $1500. With the pump and the motor having the same displacement you don't even really need a valve, they will spin at the same rate and you control the motor by controlling the PTO.

Am I missing something?

By the way I think this is a great idea and it's something I've given some thought to in the past.

* I realize this is only rated for 474 RPM continuous, 563 intermittent, so it's not quite right for this application, I just picked it as a quick illustration of what's available.

For the one and only reason of simplicity of not doing anything.

The other issue is heat loss and cooler oil reducing power available to the hydraulicly powered implement- one more reason for a front mounted 3 point hitch and a reversing gearbox using a mid P.T.O. or an extended propeller shaft from the rear P.T.O. to run a rear P.T.O., powered implement up front.

Leon - I'm going to assume, though perhaps incorrectly, that since the fan is electrical, that the fan is thermostatically controlled. Thus avoiding the overly cooled issue. But your point is well taken - one should ask that question first.

I have that exact unit....... I use it to run my loader mounted snowblower. I paid $3,995.00 but that included shipping and all hoses to front of tractor.

Ya, probibly i could have done it myself, but i really dont know anything about hydraulics and pumps. All i know is it works great

I did a package deal with them, i got the powerunit, the blower the snow plow and a set of 42" QA front forks and they took off enough $$$ from the package deal that i ended up getting the plow ALMOST for free.

I didng get the cooling package cause im only using it in the winter. It has a 25 gal resivoir so its not a problem. So far this season ive only used it 2 times, but it works GREAT.... blows the heavy wet snow about 50 feet and never clogged. If i get any light snow (like we usually get) ill be able to blow it to the neighbors place.

I sure loved not having to drive backwards. My neck issues forced my hand in this decision... as 16 years of driving backwards moving snow was enough for me.

Also, this unit is USA made with EATON Char-lynn hydraulics. Top of the line thru and thru. Weighs empty 350 #.

Heres a youtube video of it in use....
