What gas jockey?
Here in the US nearly all pumps are self service.
Gas Jockys went out of style 30 - 35 years ago or so.

I think posters from Oregon and NJ indicated that laws in those states prohibit self-service.

Does anyone know an easy way to rehabilitate a crushed plastic gas can? I am not sure why this happens... and I don't really care. I have about 5 cans that look like this. I am looking to make them useful again.

The new diesel cans I recently purchased look like your picture, but are yellow, cost me $6.35 each with tax at Menards. Why even bother to try to repair a damaged can?

Ran over the corner of one of mine while placing dirtbikes in the Man Cave. I just took it in the room where the wood molecular destabilizer is and left it a few feet away. Popped right back out again.

If you put some gas in a crushed/ dented can & set it in the warm sun with the vent(s) closed up tight, I'm not sure you could stop it from expanding even if you wanted to. Well, you prob could, but there will be a lot of force pushing outward.

When I saw the heading I figured this was going to be about metal cans. Anyway I tried the pop a dent out on a metal can, it was empty, with compressed air through the spout, it's the old style with the big screw on center cap and the little spout with a small screw on cap. Anyway I get the wise idea to remove the small cap, stuff a rag around the air nozzle in the small spout and let her rip. part of the dent popped and then BOOM, the big center cap let go of threads and I was darn lucky it did hit me in the face. My wife just stood back laughed. It must have been doing about 100 mph when it blew off. It's kinda funny now but it was stupid thing to do.

I said in an earlier post that if you use compressed air, go gently. It doesnt take but a few ounces per square inch to expand a tank and a plastic one can be done by mouth pressure. We have actually expanded a collapsed storage tank(several thousand barrel capacity) with compressed air after the operations folks blinded off the vent and started pumping out the contents. It only took about 2 PSI to push it back to original shape. Since most containers whether big or small are designed to hold pressure of the liquid inside, a little vacuum with suck in the sides.

Agree...a match could blow out...do it the right way and use a propane torch.

Sounds like a plan. Don't want to take a chance of something going wrong.
