B2920 work lights

Let me add yet another work light thread... See attached pics.

I got two 1000 lumen LED lights, Soundoff Signal brand. Very nice lights, cost about $100 each with shipping. Each draws 1.4 amps at 12V.

Mounted one facing forward, attached to the threaded boss on the right ROPS upright, near the hinge. This boss happens to have an M10 1.25 pitch metric thread, which I discovered after some trial end error and a couple trips to the hardware store buying bolts (tried 3/8-16, 3/8-24, then M10-1.5, M10-1.0, and finally M10-1.25). I bolted the light bracket to the boss with a large fender washer behind it to add some stability. It's very solid.

The other light is facing aft, and mounts in a hole on the right fender which is probably intended for a work light. I used fender washers here for support, and it occured to me that it's the first time I have used a fender washer on an actual fender!

Power came from the prewired worklight leads taped in the right fender. I ran 16GA wiring inside 1/4" split loom tubing, and routed to the blank panel on that fender. I installed two rockers there, one for front and one for rear. I originally got two water resistant switches from West Marine, but wasn't thrilled about the cost -- $40 for the two switches. While buying some other parts at my local Ace hardware, I spotted some rocker switches that looked nearly identical, and were labeled for marine panel use. At $6 each, I figured it can't hurt to give them a try, so I'll return the pricey ones on Monday.

I added hookups for another forward facing light on the left upright, but don't think I'll need it just yet.

I have a B2320 and was going to mount my lights in the identical manner as you.... Im 6'4'' and was worried about mounting the lights on the rops that near my line of vision. Please give us some feedback as to how you like your rops lights. It is really the only logical place to put them unless you go with a rops bracket mount.
and yes I think it will also be the first time for me using a fender washer on fender... :laughing:

It is a logical place to mount and none of the other alternatives really appealed to me. You could even tweak the bolt length to still snug up the ROPS, which is the main purpose for those bosses. I am real happy with that mounting, and I think sandwiching the fender washer behind the light bracket really helps stabilize what would otherwise be a small base.

I used the lights tonight, and the rear-facing light is perfect as-is. The front-facing light needs to be aimed down a little bit to illuminate more of the ground (initially, I installed the lights aiming straight/level). I do detect some light making the outer rim of my eyeglasses glow, but it's not enough to be a bother. I am only 6'1" though, so you may want to do a mockup and run the lights before you decide to commit to that mounting.

Thanks for the input.. I may add my light project to your thread when I complete it.. although it will not look to different from yours.. I have my switches mounted already in a similar manner. used the following switches. I couldn't pass up the price..

Was this on the stock alternator, or do you have an upgrade? I have the stock one, interested in knowing if this will work.

LEDs are fine on the stock alternator -- each light only draws 1.4A (and less bright lamps go even lower).

I would assume that you used a flood for the rear but did you also use a flood patten for the rops lights>?

Does anyone have pictures of the Kubota rear work light kit, installed? I have a L3800 and my dealer wishes to install something other than what it said it would include upon purchase. I like the looks of the replacement but wish to see what Kubota lights look like? Can't find pics of Kubota model L8327 rear kit.
