How many until you're a tractor hoarder

Mace, sounds like you should go by and see if you can find another one? I can't haul mine to my remote area now...

I took the family on a sleigh ride (accompanied with a reindeer petting zoo). The sleigh was pulled by a B2710 - nice ride.

Bad news - Other kids didn't understand why Santa's sleigh was pulled by a orange tractor instead of Rudolph. Good news - My kids know I work with Kubota and thought it was awesome! My Kubota cap got the family free hot chocolate and cup cakes.

The B2710 spent two weeks at the Kubota shop getting new seals, adjustments and servicing. After a stop at the tire store for new front end R1tires i took it back to the treefarm this weekend. Mud was 6 to 12 inches and she didn't miss a beat pulling logs and lifting blocks. I'm quite pleased. In the meantime I bought and had placed a refurbed 20 foot shipping container to store it on the place. Just a bit paranoid about theft. Also found compatable hydraulic quick connects for the log splitter - that works fine as well. Way convenient. Three places forty miles apart does indeed justify three tractors. Only finding out though, that sometimes I have to play musical tractors since I am doing something somewhere that one of my other tractors does better!!

I hope the answer is 10 or more otherwise I might need to see a shrink. Oh wait. Make that 11 or more. I saw one for sale yesterday that I sure could find a home for. A nice JD 2WD 50HP with turf tires. Perfect pasture mower!

2 JDs
2 Case
2 MF
1 Kubota
1 International
1 Iseki

Well, I have a 50`by 100`lot in the city and I own 3 tractors and a garden tractor! :D

I bought them for a friend to use on his acreage and that`s where they are kept (of course). Between us both we have 6 running tractors and another 6 that are in various stages of repair from one tractor that was in a fire so it`s a parts machine all the way up to just needs crank bearings replaced. That`s not counting the 3 running garden tractors we have or the couple that aren`t! :D

I think we have winner here.

And it's a trick question anyway because the answer is "infinity' and that's not really a number.

In My Opinion, One can never have enough Equipment nor can one be a "tractor Hoarder!" At one time i had 9 tractors, now we have 4 and 2garden tractors. I need more! The best part of it is my wife doesn't even care! Life is GREAT!

Six Dogs, as a former math teacher I keep thinking of infinity, limits and the fact that I can "prove" that 1 = .999 ... Infinity - not a number but a concept that can be "understood" in limits. But I don't mean to hijack this thread. In fact I wish I could justify buying another tractor and start my own "herd" after one just isn't a herd, you need at least two so they can reproduce and make more!

Well, I can probably guarantee that logic and practical math based on need is not going to get you another tractor. Cross over to the dismal science and the fuzzy thinking that goes with it and opportunity will open up. When the spouse gives resistance on another purchase, just muddy the water and explain that yes, she is right but...on the other hand...and..(fill in the blanks).
If it's your inner conscious offering resistance, the purchase price has to be a key factor so justify buying another if you happen to find one at the right price. Then you're generally obsolved in advance.
Or maybe this---the price of the tractor is not what you pay for it but rather the price minus the expected resale price plus the lost opportunity value of the money used and incidentals like insurance. In that instance, a few thousand dollar tractor will pay for itself on the first use. Do it right and the wife will be asking if you can buy another to save even more. Let's get cracking on that herd.. :D
