Trespassing signs

I understand your aggravation!

I now have signs everywhere so there is no excuses they didn't see them and a 6' privacy fence is what I had to do recently at my garden property next door to keep the horseback folks and the "looking for an out in the country" rent house (mostly druggy/low life's) type people off.

Now my tax's will probably go up and its harder for us to get in and out but the law says they cant do anything unless there is signs all over the place and there is the difficulty of getting around some sort of barrier.

I was raised different= I stayed off places we didn't own or didn't have permission to be at period, still do and always will be that way and expect to be treated the same.

Goin out tomorrow to put up no trespassing signs. So tired of running folks off of our place. Growing up I would never have gone on someone elses property without permission. Now it seems it is perfectly ok to do so. I will eventually fence, but man is that gonna be an expensive ordeal. Venting is now over!

Why? Everybody uses each others land here in NH, except for the out of state transplants coming in with that city folk "MINE! MINE!" attitude, and their screwing up the trail systems with their 'no trespassing' signs.

I own a couple of mid-sized properties (200ac and 300ac), and I welcome people to trounce all over it. Hunt, ride OHRVs, hike, bike, whatever is your pleasure. The more the merrier.

if you do you are crazy in this law suit crazy society.... also issues with opening the door to public domain issues in the future

To complement my signage, I would like to put together a paint spray-can booby trap that sprays a line along an ATV (and operator's leg) at about 18"-24" high. Place it in a narrow access point with either a mechanical buried pressure trigger or an electric eye (or maybe sound-activated trigger?). A nice orange enamel line along their expensive machines and riding togs would be fair payback for ignoring my signs.

Yea - gawd knows that those rogue ATVs are destroying you're ability to enjoy your property by keeping the trails open. The nerve of them to think that they can enjoy themselves by crossing your property. I mean, its YOURS!!!!!

Nope. New Hampshire law specifically insulates me from people who are recreating on my land. I am only liable if I make a booby-trap. That's also why the additional liability insurance to cover the land costs zero. Zero.

OTOH, if my land is posted, and someone is trespassing and they get injured, the owner CAN potentially be found liable, since they aren't insulated by 'open to recreation' laws. Posting land actually INCREASES owner liability. Ironic, isn't it?

I think that set up is more common than you think. Posting generally does NOT affect your level of liability, and in some cases makes it worse. The posting/liability myth is far-reaching.

20 years ago, I could ride the woods from MA to Canada and not see a single No Trespassing sign. Now there is more land posted than not. Laws haven't changed, people have just become more selfish and greedy. I, for one, am disgusted. I am also performing a public service and making the world a better place by providing almost a square mile of recreational terrain for public use on my dime.

Here in Idaho the Insurance Co made me post my land even after the fence was installed.

I ALSO do not want dirt bikes and snow mobiles ruining my nice quiet land. I do have 2 gates with padlocks and some neighbors have the combination so they can enter at their pleasure....but only them.

I'M ????? selfish because I don't want other people and their #*$@!& ATV's and Dirt bikes wrecking our property and the private road/driveway I have to maintain. When I sit on MY porch I really don't want to hear the very noisy ATV's and Dirt bikes trespassing on mine or my neighbors property, who also don't want them around. Glad you are happy performing a public service. :D :confused2::confused2: :ashamed:
