In addition to above, when you drill the holes in the bucket sides, drill them towards the front of the slot on the toothbar, then you can loosen them a little, pull the tooth bar forward and flip it into the bucket so you can backdrag smooth.

I learned this just a few hours AFTER my dealer drilled mine (towards the rear).

30 minutes with my welder , grinder, flap disk (to blend with) and a drill bit, and we could fix you right up. If you had a shot of spray paint, no one would ever know;)

David welding holes shut with a stick welder does take some practice. Best not be the first job you tackle right out of the box.. Holes are easy to make in metal with a stick welder, but it takes a little finesse to weld them shut. Not bad mind you but just not the first time you strike an arc. I sure wish you lived just down the road, I would like to help you with a lot of these type of things, but dang it you live so far away!

Even the $100 flux core machine at HF would do a fine job. A propane torch and brazing rod would be acceptable. Heck, even JB Weld would do it!

It wouldn't be hard if you stuck a thick piece of copper or brass behind the hole. Then use a very small rod to fill the hole and remove the backing material. I have a thick copper heat sink from HF that is designed for this sort of thing. I do agree that trying to fill just an empty hole in thin gauge metal is not for novices but with a backing plate of nonweldable material it shouldn't be tough.

IT,

Honestly it is SOOOO far down my list of projects right now that I will likely be a mediocre welder by the time I get to it...
