I thought it was clearly stated. Well, I learned English late in life. My children thinks that I speak funny. You can call it deep tale though.

There's the answer. I've been cleaning in the remote corners of the basement and have found things I had long ago thought lost. Now I have two of some things.

Not a lost tool but a lessen learned. Back when I was in High School I would work on the farm my Uncle managed.
Most of the time I drove tractor. My Uncle would tell me never to keep my wallet in my back pocket when operating equipment. I had been disking a field for a couple of days and sometime in the afternoon I realized my wallet was gone. I had it at lunch. My Uncle told me to go over the area I had been working till I found it. Easy enough I had it narrowed down to about 15 acres.
I found it the next day after several passes over the ground and many hours.
Wallet stays in the shirt pocket now.
I also have at last count 12 tape measures. I need all of them because I leave one wherever I work.

I buy about 3 a year. Usually I have a choice of two when I need to measure something.

I lost my wallet last year while plowing. fortunately it had popped out of my back pocket while I was turning around on the head land and I never plowed it under or I would probably have never found it. I've had that wallet since I was about 11 years old, Christmas present. They made quality wallets back then! (A few years back I did have to resew the seam though...) Since then I leave it in a safe place while I am doing tractor work.

Not long after I was married, I was in a snow ball fight, yep lost my gold wedding band...

I found it after the snow melted a few days later... figured it was gone for good

This is a little off the lost/found tool subject but here goes anyway. Some 15 years ago, mid-winter, my wife found an empty bag of rotini on a storage shelf in the basement. Six months later she was standing behind my HD where I had just hauled it out of the basement. She was ready to go for our first ride of the season. Good thing she had chaps on - you know an industrious mouse can store a pound of pasta in a stock Harley muffler?!?!
