John is back from the dealer after a drive of over 200Km. I didn't see the smile on his face but overall he is okay now. He told me that the manager statement was: "It was a confusion which never will happen again". So, his theory was that the sale guy "accidentally" wrote a s/n from other unit instead the one which John was looking and the shop prepared that unit instead of the new one. Anyhow John said he learn two thinks plus another: check the s/n before sign the paper, write down the hours on papers to avoid any discussion and never trust a dealer.
Consolation: he got 1000$ on a prepaid card for fuel and the tractor will be deliver tomorrow morning. I told him, better check the card before.

Sounds like they tried to pull a fast one and got called on it. I think it's good your friend stood up and demanded the tractor he thought he was buying.

Me thinks it was no 'accident'.

No matter what happened, I'd feel better about the $1000, that would make me happier.

Glad it had a good outcome. Its always good practice to snap a picture of or write down the serial numbers for the tractor and any major attachments and then verify on delivery its the same stuff. The S/N should be noted on the sales agreement as well unless its a to be built machine. I think I'd think twice about taking it back there unless he felt like it was truly and accident (which is possible).

never trust a dealer.

There are good dealers out there and I consider myself one of them. To put all dealers in that category is WRONG. Glad everything thing got fixed tho.

I agree completely. My Deere dealer makes you feel like family.

I discussed this today with a Kubota dealer. He said they must have delivered the wrong serial number. Looks like that may have been the deal and I trust my dealer and think he's an honest and fine fellow. I trust what he tells me. Barlows his name, Steve Barlow.

I think he's a little too **** if 12 hours bothers him or that there's a few scratches on the bucket. It's a tractor. After 2 days I had more than 12 hours on mine and removed most of the paint off the bucket.

I totally disagree. 12 hours is a used machine. If I buy something new, it better be NEW. That doesn't mean used "a little". It certainty better not have any scratches and/or dents on it. If a buyer refused delivery of a tractor with 1 hour on it, but it had 12 on it when it was returned, do you think he'd get all of his money back? So, why should a buyer eat a dozen hours of use?

I think if you buy anything, used or new the condition you get it in should be the same or better than the condition that you purchased it under. When I buy used equipment if I don't take it the same day you can bet I'm taking a couple pictures, know of any damage and know the hours and if it shows up in a different state for some reason then there's a problem. People can complain that a tractor is used hard so it shouldn't matter, but at the end of the day its not about that - its about paying for one thing and receiving something else (which in fact appears to be what happened!)
