Got It! yesterday while at the tractor supply I went on a hunt in
their expansive boneyard. I found piles of ROPS systems but nothing
I felt I could use and try to make it storebought at the same time.
I believe I have pretty much decided to go w/ 1-3/4" tube.

OK I started drawing! This is VERY close to being sent to cut...
These are the lower A pillar supports only, port and starboard.
I have checked and rechecked and I am quite confident in my design
to date, as a matter of fact, I am betting my life on it. :)

I will not be able to explain, except, the white parts mount vertical
left and right of FEL stancion, red part mounts vertical and
to the rear of the FEL stancion. The yellow, cyan, and green parts
mount horizontal and at rear of stancion with green on the bottom,
cyan touching green just above it w/ plug welds+ and yellow farther up.

Tubing will be 1-3/4" tube, .120 wall .

Add a 1" monster Shoulder bolt in lieu of the OE FEL removable
mounting pin, perhaps add an X brace and perhaps a horizontal
(windshield bar) just above the instrument cluster and I will survive
a LOT, whereas w/o it, and just a the OE Rops I have little.

It should even work w/o the FEL on w/ 4 spacers. No problemo'!
Impact padding will stop the ocassional BONK of the cranial.

Everything interlocks...
If all goes as planned this is going to be VERY nice. I am
quite excited, I went thru one design, Alpha and trashed it
in favor of this, BETA. I need to wake up and chew on it, my mind
works best early AM, before the world tarnishes it....:confused2:

I might just sell them, not as roll cages, but maybe for off road racing
only perhaps, no warranty expressed or implied, racing is dangerous!

I think it will be a secondary support / hand hold ONLY to OE Canopy.
I might even sell it in parts so a guy can weld his own...we shall see.
Gotta roll the dice and get the parts cut and pray I didn't measure wrong.
Reminds me of the time that silly part would not fit, no matter how
much I cut off it, it was still too short!

Looks like a nice design, CAD is a pretty incredible program! I'm glad that you got your parts in, and I hope it turns out very well for you! Did you order from a CNC machining site?

Laser or plasma would be faster and cheaper. I avoid waterjet as much as possible because it is slow and makes your parts rust.

Rust is just a minor inconveince when you own a glass bead blaster.
Larger items get the pneumatic SpiralCool disc and other conditioning pads.

Water jetting, plasma. laser, all are a method to the same end.

The waterjetter I use is in my hometown, so no shipping, I usually
just email .dwg files and they write back and I go get and it is a done
deal.

BUTSOMEHOWEVER, I would love links to your plasma and laser folks if you please !!!
If it is signifacantly cheaper w/ shipping I am a buyer! Thank You in Advance!

Wow????

1. Your response has nothing to do with this older post, or to what I was discussing about safety, and ROPS. If you don't like what I was advocating, instead of making very inaccurate claims about my tractor, or how safe my set up is, with no valid information, other than very rude assertions. If you are assuming that my knowledge comes from just owning this tractor, than you are wrong.

2. My tractor was actually rated for far more weight on the front than what I have, and came standard with more weight than this, but the weights are oversized because of their design. I am not sure that you know what you are looking at.

3. Iseki/Bolens tractors are designed for Cat 1 implements, and I have no issue using them. These are not by any means "riding lawn mowers" like you quoted. They are not a full size tractor, but they have a long history around the world in agricultural farming, and 200lbs of counter weight on a one ton tractor, is not by any means, over-rated.

4. ANY weights that are attached to the front of a tractor, in a roll over can come off, and strike an operator, however to suggest, that you should not use them in order to counter balance your center of gravity and risk a roll over is irresponsible on your part, and finally,

5. I am not sure why I even responded to you because having no educated discussions with you in the past, a post like this tells me that you are lurking, and looking to create issues. If you want to join a discussion, and make an educated point, then have your facts straight, and stick to the discussion. Please don't accuse me of risking others members life's, because of you baseless claims. All of the posts that I responded to in this thread were educated, and I respect the posters opinions in each one, however I question your intentions. Enough said.

LOL at you! You don't like it when someone points out the safety issued with your little tractor do you. What I posted had everything to do with this thread. "SAFETY" It's his tractor not yours. Think about it DA! If it is safe with the ROPS that is on it now, then anything he adds will just make it safer. You're just one of the people in this world that over thinks everything.AND THINK YOU KNOW IT ALL. Now STFU and let the man build this roll bars into this ROPS. Thanks for removing the picture of the cat 1 lawnmower with the over loaded cat3 weights dangerously hanging off the front of it. I would not want one of the educated city slicker to see that and think it was safe and get killed by it. I'm sure you would not want this also.

It is possible to introduce stress concentrations by adding more material, thereby making the original ROPS unsafe. However, as long as you're just clamping to it instead of drilling lots of big tapped holes into the bar, you should be fine. That doesn't mean a lawyer won't tear you a new one in the lawsuit when somebody dies under it. I think it's pretty unlikely though and not really worth worrying about too much. The probability of being injured from a falling branch or being strangled when you run into one without FOPS, however, is much higher.

Food for thought when designing:
