And you thought you couldn't push a rope....thread.

Wow. This thread got gutted.

TBN recently closed one good firearms related thread because some people could not refrain from making political posts (both pro and con). The moderator did the appropriate thing pruning this thread.

Yeah, sometimes it's fascinating just to sit back and see where it goes. Of course making a few 'appropriate' comments at the right time helps.

You mean someone should/needs to :stirthepot: or :punch::bear: from time to time? Ok, Punch the Bear is not Poke the Bear, like I intended, but ya gotta work with what is available.:laughing::laughing:

I leave the TBN to get some family time and sleep, you boys misbehave, and get the thread pruned. On a firearms thread! :D As Gomer would say, "Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!" :D:D:D NOT!

Ken45101 quoted the following:

Few, if any, shooting incidents will present the officer with an opportunity to take a careful, precisely aimed shot at the subject's head. Rather, shootings are characterized by their sudden, unexpected occurrence; by rapid and unpredictable movement of both officer and adversary; by limited and partial target opportunities; by poor light and unforeseen obstacles; and by the life or death stress of sudden, close, personal violence. Training is quite properly oriented towards "center of mass" shooting. That is to say, the officer is trained to shoot at the center of whatever is presented for a target. Proper shot placement is a hit in the center of that part of the adversary which is presented, regardless of anatomy or angle.

My GoogleFu is not working today. I posted, within the last week or so, a bunch of links to YouTube videos of robberies that turned into firefights. I can't find the post but it might have been in the discussion that was closed. Pre YouTube, these videos were not easily available to the general public. What is VERY obvious in those videos, and their are a gazzillion of them out there, is...
- The scat hits the fan fast
- Incident do not last very long
- Lots of rounds can be fired
- Even at close range
- And most people are not hit
- People hit are not stopped
- People seriously hit still can move
- People are going to be moving around and are tough to hit EVEN AT POINT BLANK RANGE.
- Bad guys can be VERY violent
- They are often dumber than a box of rocks

Go to YouTube and start watching. Here is one, it was the first one I found, Police Videos - Robber doesn't notice cop - YouTube, The magic of YouTube will start providing you with other similar videos to watch.

As usual, I got sidetracked on YouTube.

I found this one which is interesting. A level headed manager, uses a level, to level a low life. :D

Armed Robbery Gone Right - YouTube

This one is interesting for a couple of reasons besides the level weapon.

At about 54 seconds in the video look at the ground standing real close to the robber with a gun...

There are quite a few lessons to be learned in this video that is edited to be funny but is quite serious.

I was reading this last night then saw this morning it was all gone! I'm not much of a gun enthusiast but thought someone was being a little rude (lots of capital letters). All I own is a 303 British infield that was dads and a 22 semi automatic rifle. I couldn't tell you what pistol was better than the other. Oh I'm not so dumb that I know a 45 is a lot bigger than a 22 haha. Most everyone here on TBN is here to have fun, joke, and learn. That is what makes it unique, we all have some common ground here. Of course everyone is different shoes. And we truly don't know what other people are going through and have been through. With that being said, all my TBN friends have a great Saturday. Be happy!!

Hate that I missed out on the ruckus and am clueless as to what happened, but glad it was modified rather than killed.

I didn't think they were political in this one. The subject matter that was being discussed is worthwhile, really, if folks can keep their emotions in check. It's something every one who decides to carry must (or should) deal with. :)

But, of course, moderators always know best. :D

Oh and by the way I took apart and cleaned my Ruger Mk. II last night. I did have a small amount of trouble putting it back together but all you need is a leather hammer to make it fit correct. About two hard blows to the barrel and the block stop was in place.

Every gun owner needs a leather hammer.

So how much does NASA pay and what are the hours?

If the mods cleaned up the thread instead of locking it, thank you! :)
