Kubota bx2660 loader mmm back blade woods rotary cutter
Need some help I screwed up major. I left the pto shaft on after removing the cutter and backed up. The housing around the pto shattered and I think I may have bent or moved the pto itself. Should I remove the cover to see what I damaged or leave this to the pros? I'm sick, I heard the fluid spilling out and shut it off immediately but I'm afraid the damage is done. Has anyone removed this ? its cracked from the dipstick all the way across to the other side of the pto. Anybody else ever heard of this happening? Or am I the only idiot that's ever one this?

No, you're not the only one that's done it, welcome to my club.. :confused3: Unhooked the cutter, forgot about the PTO shaft and drove away, still trailing the front end of the driveshaft like a tail behind a rat.

I was wondering why the tractor didn't want to back up, rear wheels were starting to spin, so the local genius (me) decided to put it in 4WD. When it STILL was reluctant to go back I said "Enough is enough.." and got off to look.

I got lucky, only bent the snot out of the shaft and driveshaft yoke. I was actually able to straighten the yoke and only had to replace the bent piece of shaft. Mine's been running for over 2 years since then, no problems. Have you got a picture of yours? The actual stub of the PTO output shaft is pretty tough, you're more likely to break it than bend it.

The pto moves when I grab it. I don't know what it looks like under the cover though its on a hill and with no fluid I'm assuming the brake is the only thing keeping it in place. I to a little nervous working on it there so it's gonna it until I can pull it up to the garage.

Wow man, you have my condolences. Unless you think you have the skill to fix whatever is wrong, I think I'd call someone to come get it and take it to the shop. Why risk doing more damage moving it if you don't plan to do the repairs yourself.

Can you clarify what happened. Are you saying that you unhooked your cutter and drove away with the front half of the PTO shaft dragging in the dirt? And then you backed up and jambed the end of the shaft into something, presumably into the ground? I would not have imagined it was possible to do that much damage. I'm already trying to think of ways to make sure I never forget to unhook my PTO.

That is exactly what happened and I can't even tell you how easily it did that much damage. I backed down a hill and hen it stopped I thought I hit a log so I rolled forward a foot and then backed up harder and crunch then splash! Hydro fluid spilling out everywhere. I can't believe it, I'm sick over it. 65 hours on it. I've left it on before but noticed right away. Make sure you check, I'm almost tempted to blame the quick hitch, I used to get off to un hook and now I just stay in the seat. Hopefully I will never forget again.

Anyone know where to find a parts diagram for this area? The manual doesn't have one.

The link Clint S provided doesn't work (at least it didn't work when I tried).

Go to Kubota.com, select "Parts" at the top of the page and then select "Illustrated Parts List"

Accept the "Terms and Conditions"

In the section "Model Name:" Enter your tractor model number, BX2660 and select Search.

Review the desired drawings. I believe the illustrations of interest are shown in the "Transmission section"

Good luck and I hope this ends up being a relatively easy repair.
