Good evening,

Anybody on the board could have the kindness to explain me the major differences between the two series ?
Are 1600 series newer than 1500 series ?
I am asking this question because I think in EC the two series are mixed and both sold under the single denomination "1500 series" with the 1500 tractors external look.
If you have a look on the pdf brochure down on this page Massey Ferguson - MF 1500
you will see that, in EC, the dyna transmission is available on 1500 series tractor above 40 HP. In US and Canada it seems it is impossible to get it on these tractors. If you want Dyna you need to buy a 1600 MF.
Are the two series really different apart the external appearance ?

Thanks for help.

Phil

Don't know much about the EC, but across the pond, yes - there are differences beyond cosmetic. The 1600 series for instance has the 12x12 Powershuttle available, while the 8x8 synchroshuttle is in the 1500 series. When I was comparing - although there are many similarities between the 1533 and 1635 (mine) - there are differences such as lighting, rear hydraulic, hydraulic power and lift capabilities.
Personally, I like the style of the 1600 series anyway - and it seems to be the style being expanded to cover the brand.

Thanks Blitzn for your message.
I like more the 1600 series but unfortunately it is unavailable in EC.
Here is what we have as "1500 series":

MF 1520 8x8 - 3 cylinder 1293 cm3 - 600 kg
MF 1525 hydro - 3 cylinder 1498 cm3 - 600 kg
MF 1529 8x8 - 3 cylinder 1498 cm3 - 1100 kg
MF 1532 8x8 or hydro - 3 cylinder 1498 cm3- 1100 kg
MF 1540 12x12 or 12x12 with DynaQPS or hydro - 3 cylinder 1498 cm3 turbo charged - 1270 kg
MF 1547 12x12 or 12x12 with DynaQPS or hydro - 4 cylinder 2197 cm3 - 1580 kg

Do you see in this something here that may be 1600 series specs ?

Thanks for your help,

Phil

The 1540/1547 have the same trans options as the 1600 series, 12x12 Powershuttle and DynaQPS, get the QPS, excellent transmission..

The 1540/1547 have the same trans options as the 1609 series, 12x12 Powershuttle and DynaQPS, get the QPS, excellent transmission..

Thanks Will for your input.
That's it !
I knew there were something of 1600 series into these EC 1500 series !
Now I will ask for a quote but the MF dealer told me on the phone that their tractors may be "less affordable than Deere...."

When I realize that in EC Deere CUT are 15 % more expensive than Kubota Yanmar and Iseki I am scared...

I keep you informed about the cost of a Dyna QSP transmission on a 1540.

Here the JD were pricier than the Kubota and both more expensive than the Massey comparably equipped and capable. Sure, you can find a cheaper JD, but specifications and capability, I could get more for less (plus the dealer was better and I like red).
Happy hunting!!
