I am simply blown away from the talent on this site. Thanks you all for the great pictures. I can see many years of trial and error has went into the fine work that's been displayed so far. Keep those pictures comming. :applause::applause::applause::applause: ~kid

image.jpg This is a corner hutch I made for the wife back in '05. It's my favorite because its also my first and 100% by me

image.jpg this table was built shortly after (cant take credit, helped my cousin)

These don't hold a candle to you guys. These are stain grade birch. I mixed three parts thinner to one part gloss black enamel to make a stain. Then over the course of several days put three coats of polyurethane over it. The legs on the table are treated posts from Home Depot that we cut. FYI, chairs are from JC Penney:)

All the work looks great.

Robbyr,

Are you bending the stirrups in a RF Press? It looks like (I may be wrong) they are laminated. With that radius do you use top and side pressure on the forms and alternate the grain direction on the inside layers? Great looking work.

They are laminated. All of these ( our higher end ) are six laminates. We also make blanks that are four. Get a log out of the pasture. It's cut into roughly 2x8 form. Then these are cut into blocks two feet long which are then sliced on a Baker resaw and sanded to try to get correct thickness. Predominant wood is oak but also use quite a bit of elm, pecan, walnut, and occasionally a few others. The blocks get soaked overnight in a pot with heating element and allowed to cool before being sliced to thickness. There are various molds for the different styles of stirrups. A hub that the wood is bent around with an outer shell which is hinged. Open up outer shell, put the wood in, close shell with hydraulic cylinder. Most of the equipment in shop was self built by my dad or cousin. I don't have an inventive mind. Nettlescountry.com
