Marijuana

Some person(s) have decided that the power line right of way and the creek behind my farm is an ideal cash crop location. They must be some awful disappointed when the stuff is about 2weeks from harvest and I accidentally run over it with the bush hog.

That's why its still illegal (mostly), because when push comes to shove, the money ain't there unless it is illegal. That is the only thing that gives it value.

I think it's still illegal because a vast amount of people with no capability to think for themselves listen to certain loud people decrying it as a sure path to destruction. These are the same people caught abusing other drugs from doctors.
I am living where ALCOHOL is ILLEGAL. In theory. It is against the law to have a beer. IT IS A DRY COUNTY. Despite that most of the powerful politicians had booze parties. I had to clean out at least 5 barrels of beer and booze bottles from my shops after I moved in. (They recycled all the cans.)

Certain church groups have "control" over the vote to repeal the laws. That is slowly changing. I don't envision pot becoming legal soon. Despite living in the only state with the only FEDERAL legal pot farm.

There is a local chain store that sells garden supplies to rich Yuppies in the city, home brew supplies, and equipment that would allow one to grow veggies and other "stuff" in doors. They have lights, hydroponics, insulated "blankets", pumps, fertilizers, books, etc. all aimed at small scale growing in your dwelling. They even have demo units set up that would fit in a closet.

I might be a bit slow, but do ya think people REALLY want a garden fresh tomato in January THAT BADLY?:laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan

I see local hydroponic stores selling all the grow stuff you would need. But I would not be surprised if the local cops don't monitor or ****, even run these stores. Law enforcement has a lot of jobs on the line with this issue. The local sheriff has about 12 folks working drugs, full time. They only have 23 deputies for road patrol for the whole county! 90%+ is marijuana. And the feds, thru the DEA, supplies a lot of money for training, operations, equipment. If it is legalized, they are gonna have to go back to being cops, chasing thieves, rapist's and murderer's. You know, the boring, hard stuff.

In Indiana, its one old senator keeping the vote from coming to the floor.. The people are about 60% for (polls) and the head of the State Troopers is too as he's tired of wasting so much money on enforcement.

The feds have all but stepped away from domestic pot. It is a local issue and one they are not involved with. They don't spend money on the issue anymore. But they are heavily involved with international trafficing of pot (stuff coming over the borders) and need money for that. They are also heavily involved with the hard drugs (anything that isn't pot basically).

West coast dealers in pot have either put up shops and become legit, or have moved to the midwest and east coast where pot prices are high and profitable.

The only issue I am having with pot smoking at the moment is the belief that just because smoking is illegal in some places pot isn't. It chaps me that when I go to a club or a show some moron is lighting up a blunt. I just don't like the smell or the smoke. could care less you are doing it, just go outside.

300uguy, not to worry, there are plenty of other illegal pharmaceuticals for cops and DEA to chase after. But I will say with out illegal drugs the job would be much easer, a large percent of thefts and burglary's are the direct cause of users needing to support a habit. Oh ya less murders and assaults, from dealers and gangs "protecting" territory. Would it decrease dependence? I rather doubt it but what the **** we now have Obama care to take care of they and wile we are at it more on Social Security "disabilities".

Marijuana is considered a gate way drug for a reason, it lowers inhibition's. after 10 years working as an EMT / Paramedic and 30 years in law enforcement I will say I have seen to many young people die with a needle in there arm, straw up there nose and family saying "I knew that they smoked a little pot and didn't think anything about it."

I do believe legalization for medical use is a good thing as there is a medical use. But as Most narcotic prescription's there is a danger for abuse, dependence or profit from selling on the street.

The only benefit's from growing and legalization in the US would be tax revenue, and a decrease of funding to some cartel in another country south of the border.

I never thought I would enter this debate on a tractor forum however THC is not a narcotic. Although California law calls it a narcotic, it is pharmacologicaly distinct from the family of opium derivatives and synthetic narcotics. Calling it a narcotic make it easier for policy makers to demonize it. It is also non addictive.
