My wife has always worked in retail, and I have seen the long term trend to open earlier before the holidays, and stay open later during the holidays, the only thing left was to open on the holidays. Sadly, that has now become the norm.
I am not much of a family man, but I understand it. People who shop on Thanksgiving, and Christmas, are Scrooges little helpers, responsible in part, for many families not being able to be together. In some cases perhaps maybe even for their last time.
Do onto others, and give them a break, stay home for one day. Retailers will eventually get the picture.
