A cab is on order for my mule so being that my tractor is an OS it makes my decision real easy.

Matt

Will you be getting a heater for the cab? I'm curious how well the "add on" heaters work in UTV's. I see that the Honda Pioneer has a heater available from Honda, but I wonder, are they good enough to plow in jeans and a sweatshirt to keep you toasty on a cold night?

My nephew and BIL were out with me last weekend when I first tried my new Gator which has the full glass cab but no heater. This was the first major snow we'd had to try the blade, and even in two wheel drive I could handle the snow without any problems.

We all agreed that a heater really wasn't necessary to keep warm even with just light clothing since you are out of the wind. But a heater and fan would help keep the windshield from fogging over. We actually popped the windshield open to help unfog it but still stayed comfortably warm. So I may look into a fan to see if that is enough to keep the windshield clear.

I owned a diesel gator for a short time and no I don't think you would ever need a heater...that engine let's you know it's THERE especially with a cab, ours had a soft cab.

I have a Honda Pioneer with a glass windshield, plastic hardtop and fabric doors and rear window. If I lived in TN or KS?I could likely get along without a heater?.as a cab really cuts down the wind. Keeping the wind off is huge?.and in moderate temps my cab without heat would be sufficient for most uses. BUt?.it's been below zero here lately and there is not any appreciable heat coming from the engine in these temps.

It was -10 coming off the lake last night?.and my windows were iced up and it was pretty cold in the cab. Not windy?C O L D. If you would be wearing light clothing?.you woulda froze your fanny off. I was wearing ice armor bibs, a hooded parka, insulated boots and warm gloves?and I was getting cold. At least the wind was not much of a factor?.my enclosure really helps in that department.

For me, a UTV without a cab would really cut down on the utility of this vehicle. A heater costs about $500 and seems worth the investment to me.

I am waiting on Honda to ship heaters for the new Pioneer (they say Mid Jan now). I realize there are some aftermarket heaters too?.but I want one designed to fit and work with my Pioneer. Here in MN?.I think a heater is worthwhile.

I had a couple questions but didn't want to hijack this thread, so I posted in your "Honda Pioneer" thread here... http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/292423-honda-pioneer-700-4-a.html

I've kicked around the idea of the oem heater but figured I'd see how it is with just the cab before adding it. The Kawasaki heater is in the $500 range so it's about average from what I've seen.

Will we get some good pictures of your new setup plowing this storm today? I'm not sure how much your supposed to get but I think we're in the roughly 12" zone....although it's rarely as much as they say it's gonna be.
