It comes with new furniture for the house?
In my case, yes. And I'm quite satisfied with that arrangement. She got a new bedroom set and living room furniture, I get my choice of tractor.

Interesting, though... she wants me to buy new with a warranty and is opposed to me saving 5-10 grand to buy used. I'm not such a good mechanic that she thinks it would be worth the gamble for the savings.

Just remember " Happy wife, happy life". Remind her that you could also run a PTO generator like you need after a snowstorm or hurricane. :)

 This is one of the best posts I've ever read on any forum about any subject. There are so many great nuggets of genius in there. Pure greatness! Thanks for the great read!

Desperate times requires drastic measures and being tractorless constitutes desperate times. TripleR has at least THREE tractors, which doesn't really seem fair in itself and I'm thinking it was his wife who had to convince HIM to get them. How else could that happen? What does hung like a pony mean anyway?

Next time you get snow, get out your trusty snow shovel and start shoveling frantically and about 5 minutes into it, just lay down in the driveway and flail about. When she comes running out of the house, make a big effort in just sitting up and complain about tightness in your chest and shooting pains up your arms. Drooling and slurred speech has a positive effect at this time also.

Hand her the shovel and ask her if she could finish up for you until your vision comes back and the pain subsides. It is imperative that at this time if you have any other means of snow removal it is totally incapable of starting, shear pins missing etc. You need a tractor don't you?

Also make sure you keep her very involved when you bring anything heavy home. Wait until she is busy watching her favorite show or whatever women like to do and ask her to help you. This will get old real fast but you need to keep it up if you are ever going to get a real tractor.

Buy extra large bags of stone, concrete, mulch or whatever and become real indecisive on where you want them and move them repeatedly. Always remember to rub your arm and chest and anytime she asks about it just stare at the horizon and mumble unintelligibly about beavers and ducks.

For this to work your wife has to love you. I didn't realize mine was HOPING I would drop dead and I only got the tractor after she left with the guy from the gym.

Good luck!

Go buy one before she gets home.

Be sure you got the pathetic, apologetic, hang-dog look down pat. :sorry:

Then they go easier on you. It's helped me after showing up with:
(1) new truck
(2) vacation property
(3) new tractor
(4) livestock
(on differing occasions, of course - with sufficient spacing).

I agree. I had a good laugh at that post, too.

Good point. Being able to operate a 15Kw generator with approx 10-12Kw output.

You get a better deal with financing a new one than scrounging up a loan for a used one, then have to fix it. Unless you have lots of free time & like fixing up used stuff. And with buying new, you get (almost) exactly what you want! Go get 'em!

This thread is awesome. So many pearls of wisdom throughout.

My wife was completely against the idea of a tractor. "We only have 3 acres. What are you going to do with it? We already have a riding lawnmower."

I had told her the prices for a new BX series - she wasn't budging. Then a coworker of her's was liquidating some of his father's estate, including a 2005 B7610 with 45 hours and a couple implements I didn't need. The price was $4k less than a new BX, which meant I could pay cash for it. I think the fact that she had a role in finding something cheaper than new that we wouldn't be making payments on helped her give me the go ahead.

She still wasn't convinced when I brought it home, but after several years and lots of projects completed I believe she has come around. I'm still married at least.
