Did you find any pure copper ground clamps, or did they all turn out to be copper alloy-bronze-brass like we told you?

Yup;

One by the name of nunaya

I did some searching and I don't think there are any pure copper clamps due to reasons stated above - the copper is too soft. Tweco's clamps claim to be 98% copper. Can't get much better than that. I totally get the desire to have low resistance but think of the whole system. The resistance in a 98% copper clamp will be much lower than the steel you are welding on or even your welding rod. I bet the welding rod itself is the biggest bottleneck to the electric flow as they are small in diameter compared to everything else in the chain.

The rod is designed to be that. You want the rod to arc and melt before anything else

Obviously but you only want the tip melting. I was saying you have more resistance in the length of the rod as in back up by the electrode holder than probably anywhere else. Certainly the conductivity of a ground clamp that is gold, silver, copper, steel whatever is a lot better than an 1/8" rod.

Which member are you referring to and why?

Rock knocker has been "opinionated" but that's all it is his; his opinion!

I think there are people with a chip, and ready to tell anyone about it, that's all. Everyone has an opinion and being aggresive serves no purpose and hinders constructive conversation. and with that, I have said enough and will go back to my listening mode.

Yup I hear you there!

Must be nice to know everything and never be wrong though...

Unless you are running a Hot Pulse or Twin Pulse 300+amps..The clamps discussed on here are not needed. I use them too but a 250 amp transformer unit does not require anything special for grounding. If you want one it's all good but you don't need it. A $5.00 clamp will work as well as a $50.00 one on a 252. just sayin.

Yomax;

I know your dislike of the 252...

Point taken; thanks for saving me $50!
