kubota vs. kioti

It would be interesting to see what a gear would do. Or even CK HST vs. CK Gear.

I don't think a gear would have had any different results, the problem was a lack of traction. We tried it in dirt and gravel with the same results. I think there was something weird going on for the 8N to win, maybe it was just better at going drawbar to draw bar.

As a Kioti dealer I will assure you Kioti is the superior machine..LoL :D
Any American market tractor you buy no matter what color has a better than average chance of being a quality machine that will give years of good service.
Just get the brochures and price from both and start comparing apples to apples.
Next compare dealers and customer service after the sell.
Third I would call and compare prices and availability to parts like filters and water pumps.

I'm just interested in why (how in the world) that the 8N won? Same tire configuration? Isn't the CK heavier? Is it torque or ability to apply it to the ground? width? weight distribution? Very interesting.

I own both types of orange tractors both are great machines. I think we could all agree anything orange is by far better than green at least anything under 100 HP. Us tractor guys always want more. I have a neighbor with a large ( 65 to 95 not sure ) Kubota super nice 4 wheel drive cab AC. I would die for it. All he talks about is getting a 100 or 120 HP Deer cab tractor because his Kubota will not pull some steep hills in high range towing a
6 to 8 thousand PTO driven manure spreader. Point is wanting more never stops.

The 8N had R1 tires and the Bobcat had R4's. The 8N had calcium in the tires. The Bobcat had either methanol or magnesium, every time I asked at the dealer what fluid they put in the tires I got a different answer. If you look at a 8N the front axle is in front of the engine, so a lot of the weight is on the rear. If you get a 8N on a somewhat hard pull the front will lift. The Bobcat had the loader on it, I don't know if this helped or hurt it, never tried it without. With the diff locked and in 4wd the Bobcat had 3 tires pulling versus the 8N having 1 tire pulling. I was on the Bobcat and I could start dragging the 8N backwards and he could let out on the clutch and easily pull the Bobcat. The front was barely lifting on the 8N. I saw an antique tractor pull on RFD TV. They weighed each tractor. It was a contest to see who could pull the most percentage of their weight. I think a 8N pulled 75% and a Allis Chalmer won with 135%. Using both tractors for 3PH work the Bobcat seemed more powerful though. Maybe it was just because it was a hydro and I could contol my ground speed better than the 8N. Whenever you did anything with the 8N you spun quite a bit, but maybe it was doing better than I thought:confused3: I looked up the Nebraska test for the 8N, it would pull a max of 2810lbs, the tractor was ballasted to a weight of 4043lbs.

I see. Thanks Roger. A lot of factors there. But, I think the biggest one is R1's vs. R4's. I'm less than impressed by the traction of R4's.

But if you read earlier in the thread, a CK with NOT loaded r4's pulls better than an equal weight tractor that has R1's

And engine torque is of less importance (IMO) than engine HP. Quite simply, HP is HP. IT wont change. But you can achieve whatever torque you want with gearing.

My PTO butt dyno and every PTO implement I own tell me different I say NOT true.

I'll never own another POS Kubota!
