Add a Double Pilot Check valve to Side Link Cylinder?

You don't need to go to that extreme.

Consider this valve. Provides shut off in one direction, and full flow in the other direction.

1/4 NPT 5 GPM PRINCE WFC-400 IN-LINE FLOW CONTROL

Install the valve so the shut off is in the side of the cyl you want to keep fluid in.

J.J.,

Thanks . . . that would work if my only concern was locking the tilt cylinder for bush hogging. However, it would also be nice to have the box blade keep it's position without creep and still be able to change that position on the fly. It's a cab tractor so reaching back there to twiddle a knob is not doable, and getting off the tractor to do it sort of negates some of the advantage of having tilt.

I would consider a single pilot lock valve if I can locate a 1/4" port one that'll work, as down/extending is the only direction of lock needed.

I isolated my tilt cylinder creep to the control valve
Any other recommendations appreciated.

Why not repair the valve? Probably needs a few new o rings.

No O-rings seal the A or B work ports to the return, unless it has work port reliefs. CJ

The tractor is only 6 months old, and the rear hydraulic outlets haven't been used 'till last week when I installed the top and tilt. Disconnecting QC's locks tilt cylinder. Not for sure, but I'm guessing dealer would say the fairly small amount of creep I'm seeing (none with no implements, and maybe 1/2" per hour with bush hog) is normal.

The top cylinder has DPOCV and locks up tight as a drum. Since I don't have a float function on the rear controls, adding DPOCV is what I'm leaning towards. I've ordered the valve linked in my first post above as it's the smallest valve I could find. When I get it, I'll decide whether to mount it in-line with the hose or use steel tubing and mount it "properly" between cylinder ports.

My Kioti DK45SE with a Fit Rite Top and Tilt system leaks down quite rapidly when I am brush hogging. If I set the mower for a 4 1/2" cut, the right skid is in the dirt within 15 minutes. Swapping lines between the two valves, the first valve leaks down maybe a few minutes slower than the second dealer installed optional valve. I haven't noticed any problem when using my rollover box blade, but then I haven't used it a whole lot yet. I have less than 30 hours on my tractor. Since float is not available with Kioti's valves, adding a DPOCV would solve my problem.

But I'm thinking that given my lack of experience, I might just go with a simpler solution. Woods offers a check chain kit that installs between the top link mount on the tractor and the hitch pins on the cutter. Simple to install, simple to adjust, and probably for my skill level would cost me less than the pilot valve. To add the valve, I would have to figure some way to mount it to the cylinder, and to connect the valve to the cylinder ports. So I think that is the way I'm going to solve my problem.

Why not install a needle valve and shut off the flow when the level is right.

I'm sorry that your valves leak. There has been other owners that have gone through this. Had the dealer replace the valves with ones that did not leak. One guy had his dealer do it a couple of times before he got a good second valve. It is sad that this is how it is. :(

Guessing that you don't need the side link in use for bush hogging, spend no $$ and just un plug the cylinder. It should not move.

Why not just disconnect the hoses when you aren't going to need them? This is what I have done in the past (one time to see if it worked, and it did) and it's pretty simple. I figured I'd disconnect it when using something I didn't want to move, but it creeps so little with my valves that now that I think about it, it's really never bothered me. (that's just me though, not saying to just "deal with it") :D
