How did Ford get their numbers for best in class towing? This is how. Kinda shady.

Its pretty funny in the comments below the video people noticed the Ford is towing a different trailer. That's the first thing I noticed at the end of the video. Some people were saying its lighter. Its kind of hard to see in the video but if you go back and look the Ford does have a different trailer behind it. Does it make a difference? Who knows but its not a very good test, more of a rough seat of the pants opinion than scientific results.

The trailer the Ford pulled was made form steel. The other trailers are plastic because all "non ford" trucks suck and won't pull a greased string out a cats arse.

I remember a ford commercial maybe 10 years ago that showed a ford and I think a chevy on a drag strip pulling trailers. The trailers were very different, could never figure out why they would do that. Even if they were the same weight, it still raises questions.

I suspect the test was still reasonably fair, but for the sake of being fair make sure the trailers are all the same. One trailer would have been enough you can unhook them you know. In general these tow tests are starting to get old. Any one ton truck made today will tow just about anything a sane person would want.

Another gripe is all this crap about "soft touch surfaces". The Ford didn't have enough soft touch surfaces. So what. In 5 years hard plastic surfaces will probably be the in thing again anyway.

Agreed! 14 seconds on a 3 mile (or whatever it was) hill climb is not going to make or break anyone. I would like to see going down, as that is one area Ford needed to improve greatly compared to the others. Having a true switch for the exhaust brake should help.

I think soft-touch is more important in cars than trucks due to the beating trucks normally take. For me, I would like soft-touch in my truck, but I don't do any 'real' work with it. I use it to chauffer my family around and pull my fifth wheel, not beating it up out on the farm. When it comes down to it, though, it wouldn't affect my purchase decision.

Agreed, avoid even the suggestion of bias toward one brand...

Ah, but then you cant get the awesome shots of one truck passing the other going uphill pulling a monster trailer :D

The reason Ford one is not because they are the "best". It's simple laws of physics. Most HP, most TQ, great tranny, ect. Give any of the others the same power and it's a tighter competition.

Long story short it's what the manufactures want to put out.

I have a feeling the Dmax is getting a little long in the tooth and it's at its limits. GM will be hurting badly in this segment if they don't get a new diesel soon.

The only people that concern themselves with this trivia are people on forums who want something to criticize and talk about. People who actually use their trucks just buy the one they the feel will work best for them, use the truck and don't concern themselves with trivial pursuits...

Lots of splitting hairs in this thread. Ford, Dodge, GM are all good these days. Ford a little better IMHO. Dodge, GM a totally respectable 2nd.
