IDK about that. When we bought our horse camper, the trailer salesman assured me that our F250 could pull it just fine. He was right, it pulled it okay but I could feel the rear end give on very gentle curves. I had it weighed, and we were 300# over the rated rear axle weight, without water or a horse in the camper!
So we upgraded to a C3500 (one ton dually) which handles it well.
There are always people who will overload whatever ratings they have.
Interesting. In a way, it really doesn't matter as most people buying these trucks have no business and never will tow that much weight.
