1995 F150 300 6cyl 5 speed

Now, to make you guys drool, he has a 2000 F250 4x4 with the 7.3 that he does his towing with. It has 29k miles and is not for sale-ever. This truck is pristine- no scratches, tears, dents- sits under his carport and he drives it occasionally to "blow the dust off". He paid cash for it new.[/QUOTE]

Bet he could get what he paid for the F250... about $35k new, people pay crazy $ for 7.3's with low miles in nice shape.

There was a funky problem with the throttle plates under the carburetor in some years...and that stops the truck dead. The exhaust systems are rather expensive to replace, if you buy the factory system.
Otherwise, great engine/transmission combination. I had the 300 cid 6 with a 5 speed in a full sized Bronco. The only reason I traded off was no AC in the Bronco.

I wouldn't feel bad paying 6K for it, would seem a shame to lose the truck for $1K. It sounds like it's in the top 1% of used trucks out there.

There's not a carburetor in the 4.9 in the era he's looking at. Not exactly sure when they switched, but my '90 f250 is EFI.

It is but unfortunately I only have about $5500-5600 to spend and need to get some tires for it. He said he would let me know by this weekend. I asked about the truck when I saw it, he wasn't really advertising it. He is looking for a decent replacement and will let me know.

I inherited an '87 F250 with the 300-6 and it has fuel injection.

The truck is pretty rough and hasn't been road worthy for several years, but the 300 purrs like new and starts right up even after sitting for a year or two at a time. Great engines! It currently needs a fuel pump to run and could use a power steering pump and valve cover gasket, but mechanically it's pretty sound with 246,000 on the clock and lots of sitting. It has the 4-speed manual tranny. This thread makes me want to get it fixed up a little and drive the thing!

I erred in that post...that was a throttle body injection system, IIRC.

What was the 240 cid six? Was it just a smaller version of the 300? I know I had them in Econolines, but that was probably in the 70's. Did they also put the 240 in F-150's?

My girlfriend's father had a construction business, he would always buy F250's with 300 stick and they usually lasted until the cab mounts rotted out.

In my initial search, I had no problem finding trucks equipped with this engine. There are a lot still out there working every day.
