Need Well Cover Ideas

We have a pitless adapter 2 ft below grade at the well casing. Recently we ran the water line from the well to the basement and put the permanent pressure tank in the basement. We now have a frost protected water spigot at the well. That spigot provides water to our camper so we still need the temporary well house to keep the area warm until we can move into the house.

In these pictures, the well house is laid over and is sitting on its back wall with the front (on top in the pictures) facing the sky. The front panel of our well house is removable so that we can get to the inside easily.

Once we move into the house and no longer need water to the camper in the winter, we will remove the well house as it will no longer be needed. We'll probably plant some shrubs to hide the well cap.

That's a nice set up and you'll enjoy it.

There is something you may know about that style of frost/freeze proof hydrant but others may not.

If it is shut off with a hose in or connected to a volume of water that is above the valve drain back weep hole height all the water will be siphoned from that container. Been there dun that and the cattle stock tank was nearly dry over night.

At our cabin in SW Wisconsin the well guy welded a 100 gal doughnut type pressure tank right onto the well casing 6' underground. Supplies two yard hydrants (1" supply, lots of water!) and there is no chance of freezing. I had never seen this before and thought I'd be making a pumphouse for the pressure tank. Been using this for six years now . . .not a problem.

Phishing scam it is easy to tell, they are spammers phishing for email addresses DO NOT REPLY to that email.

easy tells small short post god bless and first and likely only posts...

m

So what happens if you do reply? Just get subscribed to a bunch of junk email or is it one of those Nigerian scams?

What happens if we copy down all these type emails and then use them on all those forms people want you to fill out so they can send you junk email?

Quoting an obvious spam/phish post creates more work for the Admins.

Just report the post and they'll clean it up.

Wish I had pics, I tore our well house down last summer at the home place. Dad built it in the 70's. It was 10x10 or so, roughly 8' talk in the gable of the roof, insulated with several layers of styrofoam sheets in the roof area. The structure was cinder block construction filled with sawdust for added insulation. We had a jet pump on a 40 foot well. Dad used a kerosene lamp to keep it from freezing. Worked well, has enough room to work on the pump in there when it was freezing if need be. Out of the elements, I remember helping dad replace a pump in freezing weather and a howling north wind, we were warm. Good times! LUTT
