Well I goofed up trying to get as much lifting height out of the whole thing, the 3 pt. only lowers below grade only a few inches. Not much digging in there to hold the tractor while winching. Just today I added some bucket teeth to the bottom. I had some worn tooth covers laying around and they fit over 1.5" solid sq. stock that I also had. This will add about 4" to dig in with and also help stabilize the log butt ends if I'm carrying them that way. I also made a provision for a drawbar on the blade - raised to the flat position. That Mag drill is the way to go for bigger holes. That's a 1.25" hole in .75 stock for the drawbar, about 2 minutes!

Hey rusty, that drill you have that looks like an end mill? What are they called? I see it left a slug behind, never seen one before.

Thanks Scoob.

That's killer!! Those look proprietary but looks like there are other similar cutters out there.

We have a new CNC at work in the fab shop and we don't really have any experts to run it. The guys are still learning how to program it and have been using large drills for the holes instead of milling the larger holes, which I figured would last longer and/or require fewer tool changes.... Anyway..

These cutters look really cool and might just be the way to go for our larger holes.

Def for home fab shop, I want to find a mag drill at auction or something, they are incredibly useful. I'm only familiar with milwaukee type.

It's not a Milwaukee, but for about $650 I can't complain. It is the way to drill bigger holes in steel.

Rustyiron , did you have a thread showing your modifications to the top?

Without question. Every time I try to drill something like that on a drill press or large geared hand drill, I'm ready to get hurt. I would like to get a proper upright drill press as well (mine is a bench model) but for large tubing and plate, then you have to support it somehow and it's just a pain.

Thanks for showing us how it's done.
