Kubota B2650 and B3350 info and hints

The Kubota website lists the B2650 PTO HP as 19.5, and the B3350 as 27. I haven't used the B3350 (I have a B2650) but it seems like you would notice an extra 7.5 HP at the PTO. I chose the B2650 it for its simplicity over the B3350, but based on the specs, I think the B3350 engine is making more than enough additional power to overcome the loss caused by the extra emissions.

A blocked DPF can cause a power loss, but otherwise it shouldn't have a huge impact, certainly not in a way that would make a 33HP engine less powerful than a 26HP engine (it could very well derate a non-DPF 34-35HP engine down to 33HP though). DelSc makes a good point about the PTO horsepower numbers -- those are advertised numbers and Kubota would get in big trouble if it lied about that.

In reality, having an HST is more of a hit on effective power than a DPF would ever be. Most people deal with it OK.

If you have a backhoe, you might have heard rattling coming from the "bucket level indicator". This mechanism is a somewhat complex linkage of bell cranks, levers and rods, with several attach pivots. On my tractor, those pivots had a fair amount of play that allowed things to rattle. The fix was easy, adding a nylon washer on the inside, a thin SS washer on the outside.

The B3350 is my first cab tractor. Where I live it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter (imagine that) and in the summer, can be calm one second and a wind blowing >40 knots the next (thermal tripping off nearby causing inrush) from any direction. I worried some about leaving the cab door/s open when parked in the sun for fear of wind damage. And leaving the doors closed with A/C off (engine off) is not appealing either, as you gotta get back in that over. The fix: A short length of nylon cord tied to inside door latch. The cord is long enough to go past the "over center" of the gas spring past the point the door wants to open with the spring. To use, attach hook to door bar which then prevents door from opening all the way to become a "sail" in the wind, while still allowing convenient cab ventilation.

When not in use, hook can be left on, and doesn't interfere with door latch.

Can be left hooked up on the right door, if you don't use it often for egress.

Close up of hook, made from 1/8" SS welding rod, covered with 1/8" ID silicone tubing.

Got a letter informing me of a HST plug "recall" on my B3350 (purchased Nov 2013.

Dealer said transmission fluid needed to be drained to replace this plug and I would need to leave the tractor with them (a pain due to logistics). In the letter, Kubota under warranty allows 30 minutes of labor to replace plug - - that doesn't sound like it would include R & R ing hydraulic fluid to me.

Anyone had this done? Does anyone happen to have a part number for the plug - I'd rather just buy the plug and install it myself.

thanks,

Did your letter contain any specifics such as serial number range and/or whether or not it pertains to the B2650 as well? Or was it just a "Oh hey, your tractor has a recall..." type of letter?

I didn't get a letter but was told by service tech that a plug and a battery cable recall was sent to them and they have the parts on hand but they had to do the service . That was a couple months ago and it hasn't been done yet .

The letter mentioned my B3350 tractor by serial number, no range given. Not sure this is the same HST plug issue as with the 2650, but I would assume it's the same tranny. Nothing about a battery lead. My letter is a couple of months old.

Hello guys - its been a while since I was up here chatting about the Kubota 2650 - anyhow I bought one however regretfully I'm going to have to sell her before i get to use it. Both my knees are out and I just can't hardly get in the machine. She's brand new I think just 4 -5 hrs for when they put the bucket backhoe on. She has been sitting in my garage.

Its a wonderful machine - It has everything heat air the works.

I have $40K in the machine and I'm willing to scarafice it for best offer. The machine is in North Georgia 2 hours N of Atlanta close to Blueridge ga.

My number is 540-353-1965

Thank you Guys!

Mike
