The payload is about 1300 under the current F150 too. Put that engine in a solid 3/4 ton and stop their torque wars.I'm actually disappointed in the tow rating. 12K is just not enough for me. I was banking on it having a 14K rating as rumored but no such luck.
Really sad about this. I loved my 08 Titan but most gas trucks can nearly tow what the new Titan is rated at. To me they really missed the mark at only 12K. The is pushing the envelope for almost all 5Th wheel campers and GN stuff. 14K would have had it right in that sweet spot between the best gas 1/2 tons and the diesel 3/4 tons.

Tough to beat the Clear Leader!SSDD. Never fails on truck threads. Nothing can come close to the Ford in their eyes. Kudos to Nissan for following through on such a neat project.
I owned and sold (2011) a 2004 dodge 2500 series diesel which was a towing machine.Diesel fuel back then was a reasonable $1.25 per gal. which made the diesel option feasible.IMHO the diesel option is of the board unless one is towing heavy loads on a daily/weekly basis.I'm disillusioned by diesel trucks. (Have one). Yeah, you may get 30% better fuel economy, but now fuel is basically a buck a gallon more ... what's the gain?
Oh, and new gas engines are basically caught up on torque and close on economy ! And gas trucks don't winter die as easy. My truck sucks 90amps for glow plugs AND 125 for a grid air heater while trying to spin the motor over at -15f. Then it bug fogs clouds of unburnt fuel for 5 min or more and doesn't get warm unloaded till spring even with winter cover.
Thats exactly what i expected this engine was designed for... give the same hp per liter of engine displacement as the HD diesels have grown into, yet with more reasonable hp...Put that engine in a solid 3/4 ton and stop their torque wars.

Looks like the last generation Ford...
