2016 Nissan Titan

Well, good thing the Ram I ordered hasn't come in yet. I will definitely be interested in looking at that Titan XD Pro-4x with the Cummins, a King Cab and the longest bed they offer!

Nice to see an all-new truck from Nissan -- that old model was very stale and I never knew why they let it languish so long (I know at one point, Chrysler was going to build the next Nissan truck and that fell through when the automakers had a shakeup). Interesting that Ford and now Nissan have a very similar tailgate design to the recent Toyota refresh. Must be the new look.

Well, it immediately passed the ascetics test for me inside and out. That is a nice looking truck. It also seems to have quite a few features available. Now I guess we can wait for pricing.

I'm actually disappointed in the tow rating. 12K is just not enough for me. I was banking on it having a 14K rating as rumored but no such luck.

Really sad about this. I loved my 08 Titan but most gas trucks can nearly tow what the new Titan is rated at. To me they really missed the mark at only 12K. The is pushing the envelope for almost all 5Th wheel campers and GN stuff. 14K would have had it right in that sweet spot between the best gas 1/2 tons and the diesel 3/4 tons.

I don't see where"any" diesel car or truck makes any sense unless it's at least a one ton truck with a big job to do.
Gas right now is $2.69 gal.,diesel is $3.69 ;you would have to drive 150,000 miles just to break even on fuel let alone the upcharge for the diesel and maybe double for oil changes.
I can't see where the world needs a 5/8 ton truck.

The payload is about 1300 under the current F150 too. Put that engine in a solid 3/4 ton and stop their torque wars.

SSDD. Never fails on truck threads. Nothing can come close to the Ford in their eyes.

Kudos to Nissan for following through on such a neat project.

Tough to beat the Clear Leader!

I was really excited about this truck but now not so much. At least they got the power right using the Diesel engine unlike others.

My 08 Titan was by far the best truck I have owned to date. That includes a Toyota, 2 GM's, a Dodge, and about a dozen Fords.

It's a nice looking truck from the few pics I saw. If I'm going to be towing 12,000+ I'd rather have a 3/4 ton, even if the 1/2 ton is rated for that.

IMHO that titan looks like a glorified 1/2 ton GMC

I'm disillusioned by diesel trucks. (Have one). Yeah, you may get 30% better fuel economy, but now fuel is basically a buck a gallon more ... what's the gain?

Oh, and new gas engines are basically caught up on torque and close on economy ! And gas trucks don't winter die as easy. My truck sucks 90amps for glow plugs AND 125 for a grid air heater while trying to spin the motor over at -15f. Then it bug fogs clouds of unburnt fuel for 5 min or more and doesn't get warm unloaded till spring even with winter cover.

Always like the looks of the Titan and have wanted one since they were introduced. Unfortunately three issues have prevented that from happening. No royal blue color, gas hog, price too high. Suspect none of these issues will change with this new model?

That's a nice looking truck. There's just so much you can do to the styling of a pickup without getting away from the utility of it. At least (so far) trucks don't have the jellybean styling of cars. I've had diesel pickups since '82 but if I was looking for a 1/2 ton truck I wouldn't bother with a diesel. When diesel cost less than gas and the trucks got much better mileage diesel made the most sense. If you need a heavy truck for big loads, go diesel but otherwise the gas engines have come a long way on power and mileage.

I owned and sold (2011) a 2004 dodge 2500 series diesel which was a towing machine.Diesel fuel back then was a reasonable $1.25 per gal. which made the diesel option feasible.IMHO the diesel option is of the board unless one is towing heavy loads on a daily/weekly basis.

Thats exactly what i expected this engine was designed for... give the same hp per liter of engine displacement as the HD diesels have grown into, yet with more reasonable hp... ;)

This engine was designed for the Dodge Ram 1500, but bankruptcy and Fiat had other ideas.

Seeing how I was replying to Diamondpilot, who is also the OP, and knowing he is currently driving a Ford, I found it appropriate to make the comparison. It is a conversion between the two of us and doesn't involve you.
