2016 Nissan Titan

It's a nice looking truck from the few pics I saw. If I'm going to be towing 12,000+ I'd rather have a 3/4 ton, even if the 1/2 ton is rated for that.

IMHO that titan looks like a glorified 1/2 ton GMC

I'm disillusioned by diesel trucks. (Have one). Yeah, you may get 30% better fuel economy, but now fuel is basically a buck a gallon more ... what's the gain?

Oh, and new gas engines are basically caught up on torque and close on economy ! And gas trucks don't winter die as easy. My truck sucks 90amps for glow plugs AND 125 for a grid air heater while trying to spin the motor over at -15f. Then it bug fogs clouds of unburnt fuel for 5 min or more and doesn't get warm unloaded till spring even with winter cover.

Always like the looks of the Titan and have wanted one since they were introduced. Unfortunately three issues have prevented that from happening. No royal blue color, gas hog, price too high. Suspect none of these issues will change with this new model?

That's a nice looking truck. There's just so much you can do to the styling of a pickup without getting away from the utility of it. At least (so far) trucks don't have the jellybean styling of cars. I've had diesel pickups since '82 but if I was looking for a 1/2 ton truck I wouldn't bother with a diesel. When diesel cost less than gas and the trucks got much better mileage diesel made the most sense. If you need a heavy truck for big loads, go diesel but otherwise the gas engines have come a long way on power and mileage.

I owned and sold (2011) a 2004 dodge 2500 series diesel which was a towing machine.Diesel fuel back then was a reasonable $1.25 per gal. which made the diesel option feasible.IMHO the diesel option is of the board unless one is towing heavy loads on a daily/weekly basis.

Put that engine in a solid 3/4 ton and stop their torque wars.
Thats exactly what i expected this engine was designed for... give the same hp per liter of engine displacement as the HD diesels have grown into, yet with more reasonable hp... ;)

This engine was designed for the Dodge Ram 1500, but bankruptcy and Fiat had other ideas.

SSDD. Never fails on truck threads. Nothing can come close to the Ford in their eyes.

Kudos to Nissan for following through on such a neat project.

Seeing how I was replying to Diamondpilot, who is also the OP, and knowing he is currently driving a Ford, I found it appropriate to make the comparison. It is a conversion between the two of us and doesn't involve you.
