The 3.0 is an old diesel that's been around for awhile. Believe me when I say that RAM will get laughed out of the USA if they replace a Cummins with a Fiat. You'd have a hard time convincing farmers to trust an Italian diesel over an American household name that everyone respects (Cummins).

They trusted a Japanese Isuzu in the GM trucks.

True but the thing is Fiat doesn't have the best reputation in farming. Sure they've bought out a lot of big names and are better then what they used to be but there's still a running joke about "oh you farm with that fix-it-again-tony stuff huh?) Isuzu was always known for building reliable diesels in their commercial trucks and I think that helped them break into the HD market much easier.

They are going to try and sell the truck privately.

Isuzu industrial and marine diesels have a great reputation among people who deal with that sort of thing. That could only have been a plus for GM in my opinion.

That's been my view as well. Fiats new small cars are getting horrible reliability ratings as well, in fact I rarely see an ad for them anymore. This was supposed to be their big US splash.

When I worked for Honda in the late 80's and early 90's we had Isuzu diesel delivery trucks and they were abused mercilessly and were trouble free. I still see a ton of them on the road in addition to their private branding.

I'd go with Isuzu over Fiat given the choice. -- My humble opinion only

I don't know about Ram and Cummins parting ways soon, it probably depends on how much influence Fiat has. They have had a 25 year old relationship so far. I'm pretty much an unabashed Dodge and Ram fan but stepping outside of my biased world, Cummins brings some people on board the Ram that wouldn't otherwise consider them.

Boy ain't that the truth! The cummins is the only reason I own my 2004 Dodge 3500 4x4. (0:

Back to the original topic, I see. Hopefully they can peddle it and not take too big of a hit.

Yeah, but it sucks for whoever buys it.

True, just like it sucks for the people who have it now. Seems to be a no win deal all around.

Only solution is it sell it for scrap! Lol
