I am a Ford guy, will not deny it. I do hate GM. Lost a job because of GM, 2 of my 4 GM vehicles were junk, lost money in the stock market when GM took the bailout, ect.
I have had good service from Ford plain and simple. Most of my friends drive Fords. Yes a few have GM stuff and some have had as good of luck as I have had with Ford.
As far as the 6.4 goes I know of no one that has had major issues. Yes, a few things here and there but nothing major. They all complain about the mpg, this is well known with a 6.4 until you pull the emissions crap and tune it then you will get 5 mpg or more better.
I have owned 3 Ford diesels. My 7.3 was great but it did seem to leak. My 2 6.0's were absolutely trouble free. My 06 F350 has 120,000 miles and not a single hiccup.
The new 6.7 seems to be the best yet. My buddy Kevin has a 2012 with 116,000 miles. It gets about 19 mpg without trying and pulls like a beast. It's been to the shop 3 times. Once for a hard shift between 2nd and 3rd. They replaced a shift solenoid. The second time he put 22 gallons of gas in it after a 16 hr shift at work. The drained it down, replaced the filters and it was ok. 2000 miles later it developed a miss. It was discovered the #3 injector was bad, probably because of gas in the system. That's it.
So other than his mistake of putting gas in a diesel it was in a bay once for a bad shift solenoid in the tranny.
