I am sure china makes some guns. But the made in china comment was about all the other stuff there. The place I used to go isnt really a gun show. Just a big swap meed. But used to be 50% of the stands were guns. And now 50% of the stands are HF china crap and only 1 in 20 or so is guns. And all overpriced.

Not sure what current prices are, last I went was ~5 years ago, and a NEF or H&R single shot shotguns.....the kind you can buy new for $120, were setting on tables in beat up used condition for $125-$150.

Pretty much every glock, S&W, and taurus semi auto pistols were selling used for $25 OVER new MSRP

Plain Jane ruger 10/22's were selling for $250-$300 used. And Marlin 60's were $200 used.

Just outrageous prices. And if you tried to offer any less, these dealers actually got upset and thought YOU were crazy

They might be charging a premium do to no back round checks.

Thats my guess. That and just taking advantage of people.

Last time I was down there, I overheard one dealer tell a guy that he takes new guns and shoots them a few times so he can come down there, and sell them as used to avoid the checks, but still able to get new prices + out of it.

Fellas, if a person has an FFL (Federal Firearms Licence) it does not matter where he sells a gun, or if the gun is new or used, he MUST perform a NICS check (background check).. So this shooting a gun to make it used is not correct. ALL guns sold by a dealer must have a background check to be sold and it does not matter if he is selling them in a brick and mortar store or in a back alley or a gun show.

Any dealer selling a gun at a gun show without a NICS check is risking losing his licence and going to federal prison.

Like I said, this was 5-6 years ago so I dont know if anything has changed.

Is it possible for a gunstore owner with a FFL to sell out of his "private" collection without a background?

Not unless he wants to see the inside of Leavenworth prison.

May a licensee who has firearms in his or her private collection sell any of these firearms without making firearms record entries?
A licensee may sell a firearm from his or her personal collection, subject only to the restrictions on firearm sales by unlicensed persons, provided the firearm was entered in the licensee's bound book and then transferred to the licensee's private collection at least 1 year prior to the sale. When the personal firearm is sold, the sale must be recorded in a “bound book” for dispositions of personal firearms, but no ATF Form 4473 is required.

Notice nobody from my part of the country is talking about guns. Everything you guys are talking about is illegal here. New state motto here is "LIBERALS VOTE, GUN OWNERS DON'T". They got everything they wanted so Safe Act II is coming this summer. Oh yes, Gun Shows I remember them back in the olden days. :2cents:

Also keep in mind an FFL holder (dealer) cannot go to a gun show in another state and make sales. He can take orders there, but he has to deliver the guns from his own state by transferring the guns to an FFL holder in the state in question. I have never seen any FFL holder that would risk losing his license or going to prison by not performing a NICS check. Only a private seller, selling his own privately owned firearms can sell at a gun show without performing an NICS check. Of course some states do not allow that now.

No show for me this weekend but several gun shops. After searching found two lever actions both Marlin 357 and 44Mag. Decisions decisions

I hunt some with a .44 Mag in a rifle. Hornady Leverevelution ammo is impressive and it drops a whitetail clean.
Federal Premium 240 grain hollow points - NASTY - looks like the deer swallowed a hand grenade.
Very nice woods guns shoots flat enough out to 150 yds or so.

I've got a little Marlin 1894 P in .44 Mag. They didn't make many of them, they were a mini guide gun 16" barrel and straight stock. I have a scout mount on it and a Leupold scout scope. Neat little gun.
