Buying Advice Cabela's selling Compact Tractors

Still not feeling well?

Back on my feet....still going a little slow. I am off all my restrictions, but the neurosurgeon told me not to go crazy....like swing a hammer or anything.....well what does that mean? I have been on the tractor a little, but the bumps just kill me....wonder if they have a tractor with a suspension

I don't want to totally hijack the thread....one pic of the "work" they did on me....I have a copy of this arrangement in the lower back more or less.

I (sometimes) wear a Williams Gun Sight Co cap and use/prefer their products as a rule.
I have/wear a Dixon cap & still use my '96 4228, bought new.
Wore my Home Depot ('candy store') cap yesterday while rigging a wind turbine with HD price stickers on some mounting bits.
'Buckmark', Hornady, Chevy, H-D, Corvette, Cub Cadet... lots for some of us. (value in the eye of the beholder/buyer ...) Those perfectly nice Cabelas/TYMs aren't painted red or orange.

I see a pickup with Camo front air dam surrounding tow hooks and camo flares around wheel wells (camo seat covers!) and I pretty much expect a guy to hop out wearing a Cabelas hat with pride and perhaps willing to back up his level of devotion with smartphone pics of his tractor. :D

My dealer just sent me an invoice with a 25% restocking fee on it.

Anyone reading this, take that into consideration before giving them your business. I wish I hadn't given them my CC#.

I swear that Pride works on commission. You may explain that you're on the internet sharing your unhappy story.

I wonder about this though Eric, because when I asked them about buying a grapple they had on display, they wouldn't sell it to me from inventory - I had to order another one, and pay shipping.

So you have a unit on hand, and then won't sell it? How is this convenient for me?

All I can do is face palm.

The grapple for the 5065e? Experience tells me you want one with a good pinch as well as a long bottom for carrying material, and a wide opening.

I like my Wicked Root Grapple, the fundamental design is great, but I wish it was scaled up about a third larger (not wider) so I could get more material into it and take advantage of the frame size of my tractor.

Yep, it's for the 5065e. I think I'm going to make a pincher grapple to just handle logs for the time being. I can always add some more teeth to it later if I want to convert it to ripping roots.

Cash is tight with my road project under way now, so I don't want to spend a wad on materials or laser cutting. I can have a field expedient log handler done in a few hours.

Have you got a 3rd function plumbed or are you running a pair of lines from a set of rear remotes to the front?

If you've got a cutting table, take a look on the underside and if it looks fragile, consider making yourself some belly guards if you're wandering out into the weeds and woods. Belly guards are a Godsend on my Kioti.

I've got a slipping C6/C7 disk. I'm holding out for a replacement disk rather than a straight up fusion like you've got. Heal up fast!

I don't have a table, but I have a buddy who runs the laser at his uncle's shop. I provide dimensioned chicken scratches and he bangs out some really nice parts. Despite being able to code in WAF, I'm virtually worthless on CAD and prefer drawings when I need to go that far.

Belly guards are something I intend to get around to doing when I bring the machine home to my shop. I'm not sure when that'll be. I have the road project going on up north, and I have a lot of cutting and moving wood to do for that.

I've got SSQD's and will have a dedicated third function valve (the walvoil that the power beyond plug goes to - which arrived today). I am kinda debating that decision though. If I did a diverter, it wouldn't impact my use any more or less than moving my hand to a different control lever. I have a diverter for the rear SCV and will use that additional connection for my hydraulic top link (working on welding the new eyelet on it right now).
