Tier 3 TYM's have the Perkins engine, Tier 4 switched to Yanmar.

TYM uses 4 different engine suppliers. Mitsubishi for under 25 HP still Tier 3 I believe. . Yanmar from 25-55 HP. Deutz for 75 HP and Doosan for 100 HP tractors. It appears Cabelas had purchased a good supply of Tier 3 tractors. When they run out they will be Replaced with Tier 4 tractors.

Yes but the Cabella's tractors that are being discussed in this thread are the tier 3 TYM compacts ... They use Perkins. The tier 4 TYM compacts (comparable to Cabella's models) are now using Yanmar.

FWIW - all of low HP Tier III's use/used 3-cylinder mitshubishi (i.e. T-233, T273, T293, and T234). Looks like TYM is switching to Yanmar for tier IV compliance. If Cabella's low HP tractors are using Perkins then they've gone in a different direction.

Cabelas now offers at 75 hp tractor that has a, you guessed it Deutz engine. Not the 72 hp Perkins used in the TYM T723. TYM is still selling brand new tractors with Perkins engines too. It's called New Old Stock.

I haven't actually compared processes - Cabella's vs. TYM dealer. In fact, my local cabella's doesn't seem to have anything tractor related (bummer actually). I guess I just assumed they were more expensive due to the addition of camo paint and other "woodsy" accoutrement. Actually, I think I read about this in this thread somewhere. Of course, if prices are competitive, your local dealer might have a reason to worry. . . especially if he can't provide good customer service after you buy the tractor.

Still hoping a strong dealership will pick up the TYM brand again in my area. Just about everyone closed up shop with the recession. Even parts are tougher to come by. Used to call my local guy and have the parts drop shipped direct from Redmond, OR. Now, I have to go through a middleman and have parts shipped to a regional dealer and then on to me. Not ideal, but at least I can get parts.

Pete

If your tractor model is the same components as a Cabelas model . . can't you order parts from Cabelas? Cabelas has a marvelous distribution system. Not only speedy . . but inexpensive processing to your door.

Also . . do you have a Cabelas anywhere near where you are located? One of their 5 (maybe 6 by now) distribution centers is 60 miles from me. They can tell you where any item in the cabelas chain is located.

Worth a look. There local stores don't seem to carry any of their TYM rebranded tractors, but as you point out, they can probably get parts for like models. Would be a good deal if they could ship parts for free to the store for pickup. I'll have to dig deeper the next time I need parts.

I do know Cabelas originally introduced the Land Management line in limited locations compared to their total store allotment . . not because tjere wasn't interest but because they required each location that has tractors has to have a full servicing capability. Gradually they have been adding locations.

By the way . . if you ever are in the Minneapolis area in your travels the woodbury location is Cabela's showpiece and traing location. New and big and quite something.
