Comparison Massey GC1715 vs. Kubota BX2670-1

Torque is important for everyone... HP after all, is a byproduct of torque. The BX is a fine machine, however the MF has better hydraulic flow, which results in more efficient loader and backhoe performance. For sound alone, I'd prefer the engine that runs at lower RPM... Especially for loader work.

In regards to loader performance, consider this thought. Let's say you need to constantly lift 800 pounds. Which machine would offer better longevity? the machine that's only designed to handle 800 pounds max, or the machine that is designed to handle 1000 pounds? Would you want to constantly max out a loader, or, in regards to long term strength, would it be better to use the loader and tractor, that is designed and rated to handle more than 800 pounds?

think of it in terms of a human weight lifter. which person would be more productive lifting 200 pounds, the weightlifter with a max lift capacity of 200 pounds, or a weight lifter with a max lift capacity of 300 pounds? Which subject would be better equipped to lift the weight frequently? Which one would be more susceptible to injury or damages?

Good points. Over-engineering has its benefits. On the topic of BX vs GC, I got a few details from my local Bota guy - who is biased of course - but this is useful to know:

-Kubota's 3 point hitch lifts a little bit more
-Kubota has 2" more ground clearance
-Kubota has a 12" shorter turning radius
-Kubota's loader lifts 67 lbs more to full height
-Kubota's bucket rollback & dump angles are greater
-Kubota's standard warranty is 3 years/2000 hours

I'm pretty much on the fence between the two. When I think of it, what I like the best about the MF is that it feels more like a "tractor" in the traditional sense; the engine runs a little slower and sounds like it has more tourque. The HST is a little quieter on the MF. The MF has better hydro flow (I think). I like the side-by-side pedals.

On the other hand, the BX feels more nimble, more responsive. Like it was designed to do what it does. It was never trying to be a sized-down "tractor." But I admit, that's just my perception, and there is nothing "wrong" with the MF. Just trying to figure out which would be more satisfying to spend time on while working.

I don't have the specs handy right now... But I believe the new loader on the MF not only lifts more weight than the Kubota, but also lifts it higher as well. I also want to say that the 3pt lift is higher too. And, MF has extended their warranty to 5 years. Sounds like your Kubota dealer may be "stretching" the truth a bit.

Both good machines tho, they are close enough in specs to base your choice on personal preference.

The BX is a couple inches shorter in overall length and wheelbase, also a couple inches narrower I believe too. Does that turn into a tighter turning radius of a foot...maybe... Add in the couple extra inches of ground clearance on the BX, and I guarantee you the Massey is a more stable machine.

The BX out lifts the DL100 loader by 67 lbs, but the new DL95 loader out lifts the BX by 125 lbs. The BX dump angle is better by 2 degrees if I recall, I doubt its noticeable.

And yes, the Massey has superior hydraulics...dual pumps, more flow...

...

A Bx 2370 or 2670, Yanmar sc2400, yanmar 221, and any of the Massey gc1700 series have the same width at the wheels. They are all 44 or 44.5 inches Massey gc1700s width difference is because of the directionals.

When I was shipping for my first tractor I knew nothing.

I read everything I could. I drove for hours to see all of the brands. I sat on them. I test drove them. I asked questions. Ultimately I over researched the topic and got confused.

Finally I took a step back, thought which one I liked the best. I figured out what dealer treated me the best. And I bought a tractor.

I've never looked back. Except to buy a utv of the same brand from the same dealer.

When I buy my next one, and it will be the same brand, I will buy it from the same dealer.

Good luck. But make sure you enjoy the process and get what you want. Not what anyone else likes.

Just my 2¢

Well after 9 years of patiently waiting and saving . . by mid May I will be taking delivery of my very 1st sub compact tractor.

For those who would wonder why did I wait so long . . I'd answer that it was money . . it was timing . . it was not always smart . . . but it certainly was educational, a great deal of effort, and fun.

For a period of 9 years I believed I'd be investing in either a BX kubota or a Yanmar sc2400. Instead, I'll end up with something else . . . a Massey GC1715 with some unique features.

Of course my camera will be at the ready when it comes. In the beginning It will look like many I've already seen . . Except this one will be mine. And then it will start to look a little different :)

Greetings,

Are you still happy with the MF GC1715? I am considering that one, the Kubota BX260 and Mahindra Max24 or 26

Greetings USMC,

I tested a number of products in the SCUT size range. I have never had a cause to 2nd guess what the gc1715 ones for my needs. I needed good winter traction and my 4wd and turf tires give that even though I have some tricky winter situations like steep driveway and ice and drifting. And my yard is steep but good looking.

I bought some aftermarket implements specifically designed for scuts (fork set and a quick attach for my fel and a 3pt. 40 gallon sprayer. . . . All work great and high quality. I also made a couple items. And if leg room and seat comfort are desired. . . The gc1715 really allows for both very well.

And in my case my lawn needs require nice cut but I wanted mulching and Massey offers one of the only trur mulching mom choice (6 blades and no exhaust chute).

I know what you mean AxleHub, I took a while too. I saved up until I could pay cash. Sick of banks owning me.

I wanted a GC in the worst way. When I was trying tractors they had stronger hydraulics than the Kubota BX. But because of dealers and me deciding to go a bit bigger I ended up Kubota because the Massey 1526 was kinda lacking compared to the B2620 I ended up with.

But even though I am now a Kubota owner, I still say Massey makes top notch products and are still one of my favorites along with Kubota.
