Thanks for all the great information guys. This is fantastic.

I will see if I can get the smaller coupler from a Canadian supplier, or I may need to ship it to my US address. In the meantime, I will invest in a Lock and Lube too.

RickB - I suspect you can also get my AC only stick welder to do welds that look like fine porcelain. If you were nearby, I would happily pay for your time to show me what I need to know. I would also consider that to be a reasonable solution to my question.

Thanks again guys. CDN Farm Boy, please let us know what you find.

Jon

There was another recent thread about greasing and I mentioned these. I'd posted a link to the company and someone else posted either the Amazon or eBay link. I think he was from Alberta, so it might have been a Canadian link. I'll see if I can dig it up. The company is from Quebec.

I bought it from Ottawa Fastener Supply. They don't have online purchasing but could likely call them and have it mailed. Certainly would be less than the $63. Its only $30 on the shelf.

Even the ebay.ca auctions I found were for the same(?) US retailers, with the item shipped out of the USA With the resultant excessive charges. The company website is Home - Univerco But it appears that they mostly make farm implements, there is no mention of their couplers at all (which is a bit weird). Ill keep my eyes open next time Im in a place that carries lube equipment and maybe mention the company's product and see if they'll bring some in. $30+tax all in is about my limit for something like this. Shipping would likely run in the $10 or 15 range if OFS would even ship.

OFS is a cool store, been there a few times when I lived in the area.

I find that developing the habit of greasing turns a chore into just another activity.

Frequent exercise of the fittings keeps the grease from hardening. And with a routine, lubrication becomes a walk around with a grease gun in hand. I know that until the positioning of the FEL was determined that allowed access to all the fittings, There was a lot of effort put into getting grease in a position where frustration was more often the case than lubrication.

I don't enjoy complication, so an air powered, or electric motor driven grease gun is the farthest thing from my wish list. When more than one fitting won't take grease, I suspect (and change out) the grease gun adaptor.

There is a five gallon pail in the corner with a half dozen different grease guns in it. each with their handles hanging off the outside Some are levers, some are pistols. some have flex hoses and some have hard pipes. There is even a needle tip for when things just need a good poke! The suction pump is in there too.

It's not a PIA unless you let it be.

That's the company. Your finding is the same as what I thought, odd not to have them listed on their own site. I'm guessing they came up with them from their own need. Perhaps just try contacting them directly if you speak French?

I certainly wouldn't be buying a Canadian product from a US company and paying extra to do so. There has to be a better way.

Having 6 grease guns in the corner with all the varied hoses, hard lines and needle tips sounds much more complex to me than pulling a single line out of a roller and being able to grease any fitting from one 5 gal pail of grease attached to the pistol grip are the extended soft line and the needle tip that simply screw in when you want or need them. I guess having an air line from my compressor to the grease pump could be considered complex but I would actually consider having six grease guns more complex and more work.

I won't contest your perspective.

But having the right tool for the job is self rewarding.

If you can get a single tool to do all your jobs, My hat is off to you.

Where do you keep your water pump grease? Or your water proof wheel bearing grease? They are two different requirements....

Perhaps you have no requirement for these things. I do.
