Bevelling Steel Pieces for Welding

I don't think we're on the same page. This is a very common joint prep for welding.

Nope. We are not on the same page at all. Spyder explained my position. The parts are allready cut, it is only the bevel to be applied. a band saw into 1/4 inch material is not my choice for wasting time and blades. The blades will rub on that sort of work.

Understood it can't clamp at all without that equal length spacer. But the clamping force is not right into the fence anymore, due to the angle theres a component trying to squirt the part into the cut. 60deg is better than 45Deg tho. But maybe your clamp is better than mine. I have the Milwaukie cold cut saw, one of the reasons I chose it was because the clamp "looked" much better than the DeWalt and the Makita. ? ? ?

1 1/2" X 1 1/2" X 1/4", with a 37 1/2-degree bevel on one end.

So that 3/4" blade has no deflection over 1.5" to the side having lighter cut. Sharp and tight; slow feed? ... Im still surprised.

Different issue. That cut is equal on each side. There is no inherent deflection force.

Nice saw! Everyone should have one.

Seems like a lot of trouble to prep the edge for welding brackets on a splitter.
But with the right attitude, it's all good.

You could stack all your plates up cascaded along the bandsaw's path and do multiples while not running into the problem of too little teeth in the work and the subsequent chatter and deflection. You need to baby the saw into the cut until the blade is supported.

Get a mill instead. They're super handy!
