Jim,
Maybe, somehow, you got the wrong part on there. Check part numbers or borrow a new one and compare it and it's attachment points.
hugs, Brandi

Brandi I have been to the dealer and we have went over it. Another dealer put the new together when bearing went out. It is what it is.

So I been doing some digging around at different sites and it looks to me that the Rebel 5410 has a history with broke belts but the alligator splices solve that but not recommended running then cause of a guard it has. As for the roller have yet to find anyone else mentioning it.
My dealer told me to cut the shaft down so it will pull it in more so the gap isn't as wide. My dad suggest drilling hole in the roller so could put keepers to get to set screws this would keep the roller from moving all the way to one side
Me myself don't think I should have to alter the dang thing to keep it running in the field. What is going to eventually happen if something doesn't change is grass is going to catch fire, cause I don't know if its going to happen at the first couple bales or what. I have already dug burnt grass out of it.I don't know if should listen to the wife and spend unwonted to money getting something that isn't a PIMA or attempt to make changes that may or may not solve the issue
Would be a great baler for someone baling 100 bales or so but nothing over that a year

Foreman, I have the same baler you do (Vermeer 5410) I broke two belts when I first got the baler, it was used and had about a 1350 bale count. I had barely rolled 100 bales when it happened to me. I noticed some of the other splices were getting ready to rip out too, So I decided to switch all the belts to alligator splices and I resized all my belts to meet factor measurements... so far I haven't had another break. I've rolled about 400 bales since then. When I replace all the belts I will undoubtedly go with alligator splices. I hope this helps you with your decision.

EDIT: As for the roller problem, I'll take a look at mine tomorrow and snap a few pics of the roller maybe we'll both learn something useful...lol.

Got the baler roller cleaned out headed to the hay field have 20 acres laid down will see how the rest of the day goes. I got with dealer and email the manufactor of my baler(several times voicing my issue) and they are overnighting parts that should fix the issue at no cost,I just have to install them. More later on that...

We are having a toad strangler thunderstorm right this moment. I don't think we will mow and bale any small square bales anytime soon.

I got 130 bales rolled up yesterday but the weather guessers are forecasting 20-40% chance of rain through weekend so I guess I'll just keep on cutting.

My neighbor baled my place yesterday, they are trying to catch up as some of their fields they still haven't got the first cutting. It was the second cutting on my place and didn't yield as much as it was a little early but with the forecast they did all second cuttings since it would dry down faster. The forecast has changed and now there is a 30% chance tomorrow and then a few hot, sunny days so the local farmers might have a chance to get caught up.

Baled into dark and the New Holland broke a belt and overheated. Of course nobody had the size but able get one rushed in by 2:30 today. So that leaves me to put the baler parts on they don't look like anything special and then see what have to remove to get the center belt on tractor,I should finish up today.
