One night of roudyness leads to cops coming every night

I live on a hundred acres. I slept with my window open summers for decades. Then a neighbour a quarter mile away got a hound dog! Just about drove me berserk, until another neighbour ran over the dog, as the owner just let it wander around! You really need a LOT of separation to avoid noise. Certain times of day. sound really travels.l

We are a mile back from a major road and I can hear the traffic. There is a guy with a hopped up car with itty bitty tires up front and big ones on the rear that likes to lay rubber on that road. He can see a few miles in each direction so he can see if cars are nearby. What he can't see is deer. The wife got a nice eight point buck on that road a few years ago. Unfortunately it was with a car. There is another guy that likes to ride a big rice burner behind us on another road. This road is not as straight nor heavily traveled but it heavily populated by deer.

Both of these guys we can hear at least a mile away when they wind it up. We are constantly dodging deer on the roads around here. The guy is in a car so he might live if he hits one. The guy on the motor cycle runs a couple of miles at very high speed. I don't think he will live to an old age if he keeps this up.

One of the OP's neighbors has to be calling in to complain. The officers simply would not know if he pulled the truck out of the garage. Noise travels pretty far in the quiet country.

Later,
Dan

You should be able to find out who keeps calling...If I'm not mistaken, Police records are public records..Police,,uniforms, paper ,etc, is paid for with tax payer dollars

I think next time you take it out of the garage you parl it and wait for the leos
when they get there ask them what you are doing wrong
There might be an ordinance that you are not familiar with
have them explain and if its not satisfactory with how you see it tell them that
get it out in the open as this isn't going away on its own
My :2cents:

About 15 years ago I got a 1965 El Camino cheap, put a 427 crate engine in it, straight pipes and "mufflers". It was pretty loud. My wife said, I can hear you coming 15 minutes away. She was not smiling. My teenage girls finally said, Dad, the neighbors all hate you and we are embarrassed. So I put real mufflers on it. Not a huge deal, it was still fun.

Hard to comment when I've heard only one side, my son was a Police Officer for years and I don't think stories ever matched on any call.

I don't like any close neighbors, so I moved to the country, never had a complaint on me and never filed one and we all make plenty of noise.

Hey all.

First off I am gonna put this out in the open,I am a 25 year old, engaged guy, I bought my house almost two years ago, I keep the property immaculate, grass is always mowed, got a healthy garden going. Shrubs are trimmed. The biggest event I have had here so far is a few couples sitting around the fire pit bullsh*tting. This is by no means a party house.

So this year I decided I am going to take my old restored Chevy truck to the local truck pulls and pull with it for the first time ever when the local fair comes around. The previous owner of the truck, mildly rebuilt the motor, small cam, better pistons etc. but he daily drove it so he had a real fuel saver intake with a quadrajet look alike carb on it. So I decided if I was going to pull this year with it that I was gonna put a better intake with a Holley carb on it. So me and a couple buddies got together one day and did just that. We got it all back together and tuned and timed in real good, we were drinking a little bit and my buddy is like "do a burn out". So in MY OWN driveway. I did two big smokey burn outs. One up the driveway and one back down it. 10 minutes later cops show up. Claims someone driving by reported it So he tells us to pack it in for the night. No problem. We put it back in the garage and we're done for the night.

So a few days go by. I come home from work. Start the truck up. Pull it out of the garage, let it sit there and idle and warm up. Then shut it back off. As I start to wash it, cop pulls up the driveway, another noise complaint he says I explain exactly what I just did and yet all he replies with is, "well just keep in mind were watching you and logging every time we have to come out here". So next day, I leave to go help someone move something with the truck, 20 minutes later fiancé calls me and said cop is there knocking on door. Same thing. I told her to tell the cop exactly what i just did and to demand to get the name of the people who keep calling cause I want to confront them.

I don't know what else to do.
I would suggest growing up . I detest punks .

Grow up? It's His property, if he wants to do burn outs or Rev the **** out of the engine with in the legal limits, I suggest his neighbor move. Only thing worse than "punks" are people who want to limit what you can do on your own property.

What? He did a burnout in his own driveway, one night. Now, if it was all the time that would be bad. Sounds like one time he did this, knows it is not something to do all the time. Not like he was doing it out on the street every night; that would be a punk...

File harassment complaint against the cops.....yeah that stupidity would work...

The cops are showing up because they are getting called by some busy body. The cops are showing up because they have too. They don't want to be there either.

Call during business hours and ask to speak to a Lieutenant and explain the incidents to him. The person calling is harassing you, NOT the officers who have to respond to the call for service.

You don't have to call dispatch to get a cop to show up. They don't have to be in a particular spot, just text the buddy, neighbor at it again you in the area to stop by. My brother-in-law is a county deputy and that's all he has to stay in and work where he Wont's until a call. Now if I called him for something stupied like OP did he would laugh and say he doesn't have the time but if it was his grandmother he would.
