Its simpler than that - it simply counts revolutions of the crankshaft, through some reduction gearing.I read that the machine determines hours based on how hard its working
Only at the specified pto rpm will indicated hours match wristwatch hours.
If you run at low rpms puttering around, for loader use or pulling a harvest trailer etc, it might take years to show another 100 'hours'.
