Are hex receiver stocks and round receiver stocks suppose to be interchangeable? I got the friends stock last night, and this morning I tried to put it together. Seems like the hex has some more material removed at the rear. Or I'm doing something wrong. I could of coarse carve some of the wood away to make it fit;

But, could I remove a little of the metal, that way I could use the hex stock on the hex receiver in the future?

Got it put together. Wrapped some 240 grit sand paper around a screw driver handle and sanded to fit the round receiver.

Hopefully I get a chance to do some shooting with afternoon.

Pics or it never happened...

Are you going to remote test fire it? I always like to set off a round or two with an old untested rifle tied to something like an old tire, and a string on the trigger. Call me crazy and paranoid, but you have to admit it might not be a half bad idea when you start mixing and matching parts, especially really old actions.
A couple of rounds, and examine the fired cartridges for stretch, and see how easy the bolt lifts and extracts. Just saying..

I considered it, but in the end, when you really look at how the bolt locks up when closed, I felt OK firing it. It's not extracting, and the magazine would not hold the ammo in, (bad description...) so I loaded single round and then had to hand remove the fired round from the bolt face. Sorry for the ignorant description, but I think I have a few more YouTube videos to watch to better understand the mechanics, and the parts.

So, fired 8 rounds I think, shoot a touch right and maybe bit high at 30 yards.

you mean it is not ejecting...correct?

The spend round remains on the bolt as you pull it back, clipped on the bolt face by the extractor. So, yes, but the spend round is at least pulled back out of the chamber.

Ok, I'm missing the "interrupter" and the extractor is broken off. I'll have to order more parts on ebay. Sorry for the rather ignorant way I tried to explain it all.

I was pleasantly surprised by the recoil, really wasn't bad for a steal butt plate.

Double post

So, I see on ebay and buymilsurp, their are two types; a single and dual piece ejector/interrupter. Is the difference an age thing, or an improvent, or a war time cost savings thing? Is one "better" or more desirable?

is the extractor broke, or the ejector?

extractor is the claw that pulls the spent round out by the rim, and then at rear ward travel, the ejector kicks it over and out the ejection port.

Ejector. It's broken off just past the small screw holding it to the bottom left outside of the receiver. The inside part, the interrupter, is completely gone. When I was putting everything together, I saw it didn't look right, but not knowing what it was, I proceeded.
