Squirrels vs Deer -- road warrior smarts

My brother is the DOT state traffic engineer who, among other things, determines where to put the signs this person on YouTube is complaining about.

Our entire family collectively face palmed.

Remarkable she is able to live.

Do they allow people like this to breed?

There's a follow-up radio interview where she realises her misconceptions, has taken a lot of ribbing over the incident and good-naturedly 'owns' the situation.

She's a "blonde". (noting that "blonde" is an attitude, not a hair colour. :))

Must be a 2 digit IQ.

i think that you'd be surprised at what people think who have never really been around wildlife/nature. I had a friend who grew up in Maine, travels all over the world, has taught school for 25 years, yet was completely unaware that deer and moose shed their antlers every year.

What does that simple ignorance have to do with evidence, glaring to the casual observer, that animals only see signs enuf to not run into them as they pass by?

Obviously it isn't so glaring to those who are unaware.

So I have developed a new unifying theory on the squirrels vs deer skill set. By closing watching each as I barrel down the road, it appears to me that the squirrels are not necessarily running off the road but are actually running to the trees. Makes sense since that is where they are naturally safer. And since there are no trees on the road, they run off the road to find a tree.

As for the deer, they see the road as just another flat landscape and since they can move at will in such topography they have no real interest in fleeing from it.

Now I need to find a squirrel whisperer and a deer whisperer to confirm.
