Reverse engineering and theft to trade secrets are certainly areas of significant concern, but they are a lesser priority when it comes to export control issues. I worked this area for years and can say on a factual basis that lack of capability is what drives the majority of export control rules when it comes to China (and others) and items that are ITAR or EAR controlled. I said "factual basis" because the standards for ITAR and EAR are readily available and they make it pretty easy to tell which is which.

There are certainly times when it's not a lack of capability, in an absolute sense, but a lack of capability right now. In other words, we know that if they set out on a path, they can develop a certain item, but it's going to take them many years to do so. We don't allow that item to be shipped there because it would shorten the development time from decades to years or months.

The carrot China uses is big contracts for the China market. In the 60 minutes piece I referred to earlier, 1.5 billion dollars of windmills were needed for china . . . Very high tech windmills. So American Semiconductor in the U.S. was providing the secret software and China eould build tbe actual windmills. Then they bribed an employee of American Semiconductor to give them the source code. Real cold war spy type stuff except about trade secrets not military . . . But conducted by thr Chinese military.

Net result is American Semiconductor went from 900 employees to terminating 600 and losing almost a billion in shareholder value. Then when they started a huge lawsuit . . China hacked yheir computers to find out the lawsuit focus and mess with the company too.

Now Massachusetts recently did a state contract with China using U.s. government tax dollars fir a big pile of windmills with the stolen state of the art software.

This is not only a tragedy . . but its not an isolated example either. Its called "The Great Brain Robbery" for a reason. A country 5 times our size is attacking individual businesses in big quantities for billions and maybe evengually trillions of loss . . our jobs, our efforts, our ideas, our money, our futures.

I'll frame this response with, I'm a competent mechanic and ex-heavy equipment service tech. So, I've got the tools and a nice shop to work in.

Now, if I were in the market for a CUT, I would consider a Cabelas tractor. I would verify continued parts availability from TYM prior to sale. Also, I'd consider the sale with as with no warranty (just in case but probably not likely) and factor that into the price.

As far as Korean tractors in general, my LS has been stellar so far.

Absolutely right. I watched them working on my tractor the other day. Drove it before they put the fel on it. And one of the techs delivered it. I will assume that the warranty will be done by same techs....

Well, maybe I got this wrong. Or maybe it varies. At least one poster spoke of Cabela's hiring 3rd parties. Would Cabelas split a tractor in need of repair? Do they do weldment repairs and add-ons? Asking because I don't know.

Well, no buyers remorse, quite the contrary. I've owned British cars before, now That is buyers remorse:)
Got a certificate in the mail today from the local Cabelas, it reiterated their warranty and reinforced my expectations that they will stand behind their sale. Btw, I DID look at my local Case/Kyoti dealer, he tried to steer me into a $25k Case machine, and even after telling him my neighbor owns a Kioti, he failed to take the bait and try and sell me one of those. The Kubota dealer was OK, but flat out wouldn't deal or move any on the price. Expected me to grab the 0% financing and be happy. I deal in cash. There is a lot of orange around here, but have noticed a big variety of machines lately. An LS dealer is in Joplin and have even seen a couple of Branson whatever they are.... So my Cabelas machine is just another tractor. Tym has been around since the 50s supposedly and Koreans are pretty good at making machines.

Sorry for running on,

I have farmer friends who try to tease me about the price of my green paint, but that orange has to be made of unobtanium. Have you priced out a Kubota compact track loader? Holy Moses! They think they're worth more than a Cat.

Resale value is way up there on the bota's but that doesn't make much difference when you've gotta sell it someday to get any of your extra money dumped up front back.

You aren't running on handloader. I just didn't want to see a new owner intimidated by a couple of reckless posters over hitting the "sky is falling" button on Cabelas. Cabelas is not a "duck and run" operation. I don't think you'll need to know where the TYM dealerships are located.

In fact if you were clever . . you start using the amazing Cabelas advanced inventory system go check on their "out of area" inventory on addons and in stock implements (not in sto k at your store). They have a great FREE ship to store program on everything else . . Maybe they could on implements or items from other locations for the Land Management side. Make the "news" an opportunity for you.

The tractors are all TYM except for the loader and some minor things like seat. Cabela's put a Woods loader on them. So Woods should be able to supply parts for those.

Duplicate.

Yep, warranty on the loader is listed as woods, Cabela's might do the repair, I don't know....
And I checked over the weekend and I can get belly mower at really good discount, the local has one and right now no other 25hp to put it on.. several larger, no mouses... And I asked about other implements, and no discount yet. Obviously a tiller and 3pt mower does not care what size tractor pulls it.... But good advice on checking on other locations.

Remember that all Cabelas are not Land Management locations. Also . . Prairie Du Chien in lower Western Wisconsin is one of the 5 Cabelas warehouses and its attached to a store where they can check inventory for the whole warehouse. You might want to find where a warehouse is located closer to you and stop in.

Also that Cabelas credit card gives you double or triple points on any cabelas purchases plus often cheap interezt.
