Before I moved to NC I had a simply outstanding Kubota dealer half an hour from my home. The John Deere dealer was twice as far away
and didn't seem interested in my business. Didn't even return phone calls at times.
So even if I liked the 4720 slightly better, I am 100% satisfied with my decision to get a Kubota because the dealer experience was simply so good.
They were friendly, competent, and charged fairly. Once you get satisfaction like that, who would want to leave? Jenkinsph sure didn't nor would I.

Now that I am in NC, I lucked out again by having an excellent Kubota dealership in my small town. But when I went to buy a lawn mower, Kubota does not make a steering wheeled diesel lawnmower in the prosumer range, only commercial grade. And like Jenkinsph who has two of them, my JD Yanmar sourced garden tractor is really excellent. It's a matter of finding the right tool with hopefully friendly local service. The color is almost irrelevant. I own red Gravely and yellow Cub Cadet too...

We all need to keep our sense of humor and do the best with what we've got, whatever it is. We're all here to learn and have fun anyway. I used to own a brilliant blue Ford garden tractor once. My first hydrostatic. That was a nice color too...;)

Now was Cabela's British Racing Green? Maybe they should be marketing them in England...

I think the Kubota 5740 with HST Plus would be a great tractor and very comparable to my 4520. I like both and think the high low is a leg up.

British racing green and a nice tan leather seating sounds very appealing too.

While the sale prices look reasonable I would wonder about the resale prices for a 10 year old tractor in the future. I would rather skip the orphan models buying anything.

Resale doesn't matter to me as I tend to keep them a very long time, but most well built SCUTs should hold value pretty well. Like anything it depends on maintenance and condition when sold. I think having a local dealer in the brand would support better resale as well.

TYM, Mahindra, LS, Kioti, Yanmar, etc. are hardly "orphan" brands, just not as widely known in this country as some of the more traditional names, which build tractors for most of these "names" (as in some cases that is all that a tractor is, a name in the name's colors). Some of these so called orphans are some of the largest manufacturing concerns in the world. Do some research on them and you might be surprised at what they do and where and how much of it.

The little 24 hp. LM25H is a very good deal if that includes the loader. That's essentially the same tractor as my Mahindra (made by TYM with Daedong engine) with 2 more hp Yanmar engine and almost $2,000 lower price than I paid in 2014. BTW, the hitch is a Cat 1, not a 0, and is very beefy.

LOL. I know there is a Cabelas and Bass Pro in OKC. Is that close enough?

it's pretty clear looking at their location maps where they are focused.

Both are in Columbus, Ohio and not that far apart, Bass at Easton and Cabelas at Polaris, can't be more than a half hour drive or less apart.

Cabelas brand tractor is soon to be an orphan brand is what I meant. I get the fact that it should be available from TYM. But I have found that orphan brands do have their issues.

I do not consider the other brands you mentioned to be orphans, that was your take.

I love it. Here's an Indian tractor built by a South Korean company granted most of us have never heard of (you are always going to wonder what TYM stands for...) with a high quality diesel engine known to power Kiotis.
And sold here in the US.

My JD X750 is assembled in the US.
I wonder now if it's 98% Yanmar Japanese, maybe with wheels and tires sourced here. Hmmm.
Like my tractor, made in Japan.

For a made in the USA guy, what choice did I really have if they were both coming from the same island?
Makes me wonder where the 4000 series is made, I'm sure someone knows.

I'm more concerned where they come from versus what color they are. Though a few of those color choices have made me cringe like the bumblebee Yanmar Cub Cadets. And my apologies to all who own one, really...

yeah, BRG and a nice saddle leather Recaro seat. yeah baby

TYM stands for Tong Yang Moolsan

3 point rear discharge for me over any belly mount! If your property isn't littered with too many oddly placed things I find that the 3 point mount actually gets under the trees better without getting me under the tree and I can cut just as close to everything else as I ever could with a belly mount. It also cuts my mowing time down a good bit as with the more free flowing discharge I can cut a faster pace and it doesn't leave windrows that I have to go back and deal with when I let it grow a bit too long.
I have also noticed that no matter the design and how easy a belly mount is to mount or dismount when new every year they seem to get harder and harder to deal with and with the 3 point mount it will be easy even when it gets old.

+2 I even had implement dealers discourage me from getting a belly mower when I was looking at small tractors, even if they sold MMMs for more than the 3pt ones. One guy said he had too many returns to continue to recommend them. I found a brand new finish mower by an Italian company, Maschio, for $600 at an auction, they had two and the other one sold for less than that. It's nearly identical to the smaller "Cabelas by Woods" mower on the Cabelas web site, which make me wonder if the Italians aren't making them for Woods. Note the $2,660 price from this source:

MASCHIO FINISH MOWER 60" WIDTH - Finish Mowers - Mowers - 3 Point Hitch Attachments - Tractor Attachments | Ford Distributing

Google up the Woods PRD6000 Rear Mount, almost the same as the Maschio.

The just stopped construction of 2 or 3 stores in D.C.

I understand that was because they couldn't afford to pay the new wage scales that were going into DC. High minimum wages have consequences just like high taxes and high mandated benefits.

Wow $12,000 for a diesel garden tractor. Why would someone pay that for your John Deere x750. The TYM is not a lawn mower like the Deere. The TYM has a loader and a three point hitch and 4 wheel drive. You cannot compare the two. Yes the LM has a belly mower attachment and can mow grass like your Deere, that is the only similarity.

Well, you find me another diesel garden tractor for less, I'd sure be interested in seeing it.
I already have a diesel tractor and all the implements, and cannot use a zero turn due to physical limitations, so frankly "why?",
well it was the right tool for me.

I didn't think I was making the comparison you allude to. In fact I have no idea what you are saying. I was only talking about country of origin, not comparing the merits of one versus the other.
