Am I no longer Dodge Man??

Put a comma after Dodge.

"Dodge, man. Here comes a Chevy!"

When the "new body style" Chevy HD trucks came out I test drove a base model 3500 SRW regular cab 6.0L and was impressed with the powertrain combo but I was a bit turned off when I reached down to pull the floor shifter into 4-high and the shift knob came off in my hand.

You don't pull, you slide! :D :D. It works on mine everytime.

Stopped by the dealer tonight to get an oil filter for mine, noticed a lot more work spec trucks on the lot, spec'd like my SL. So glad to see this.

A little update. I towed with it yesterday and it did good. It has what I think is a true class V hitch and nice tow mirrors. It has the built in trailer brake controller and that is so much better than the add on that was in my Dodge. I was only towing about 4000 lbs but it was very stable. The bad news, compared to the Cumnins, it just doesn't have the power. A lot of that is just the difference in the power curve of a diesel vs gas engine. The Cummins rarely pulled anywhere near its redline of 3200 rpms and almost always held OD going up a hill. The 6.0 gas motor shited more often and would pull to 4000 rpm's sometimes. I could see a 10,000 lb trailer really working the engine. I owned a 2007 Ram 1500 with the Hemi. Its kind of the same thing, you just have to get used the engine having to rev more to get the job done. I don't think its a bad thing, just different.

There are a couple of things I miss about the Dodge. The underseat storage under the rear seat and the fold flat floor was nice and the pocket in the door were larger, but truth is you just end up hauling around a bunch of crap you don't need.

Nice truck Dave, I too had to get out of Dodge back in 2012 and got into a 1500 Silverado 5.3 with tow package and built in brake controller. MY 2001 Dakota was a gas hog compared to this full sized 1/2 ton. I average 17+MPG with the Chevy where doing the same driving with the Dakota 4.9 I was doing good to get 13. Never got better than 17.4 with the Dodge and I get 21 with the Chevy on the highway. The Chevy does well pulling the 16' hauler with the JD 3203 with FEL and rear grader, scraper attachment. The Chevy has 46K on it now and I have had to do nothing to it. The Dodge had 170K when I traded it off. Low spots on it were toooo small of brakes,(replaced 6 times) and HVAC issues. (3 heater cores) and one evaporator core. Each repair for the HVAC was $1000.
Enjoy.

Did you have the tow button pushed in on the shift lever? It changes the shift points to keep the power / torque band up where it should be. I have the 2013 1/2T EC 5.3L 6 spd. auto and tow 7500-8000 and the tow mode has to be on or it shifts to the next gear too soon for towing. 4000 RPM is normal for a gas engine. Your diesel torque curve was at lower RPM. I also can manually shift up / down with the + / - buttons on the shifter. You should have the same.

Yes it has the plus minus thing on the shifter. Yes I had the tow haul button on also. To me with it on it appears to hold the gear longer and the speeds I was going it seemed like it wouldn't go into sixth gear either.

It will hit 6th with the towhaul button around 70mph IIRC

Yes, gonna be high RPMs while towing.
