My new additions (tree shear / puller)

I built mine and it's not quite centered, but that's as close as I could get it and have the clamping power I was after.

I agree, centered would be best.

I'm a believer in that jaw pattern Richard

I like the double swinging jaw design best. I was just too lazy and only had one cylinder laying around. :)

Whatever is used it must be strong. The stresses are very high. I discovered yesterday I've got a broken pin on my FEL SSQA bracket. This is the second one I've broken. That doesn't happen using a bucket.

I looked for a tree puller, for several months and ended up with the Skid Pro tree puller. My primary use is pulling up yaupons and cedar. It, so far works well at that. I'm considering adding a video camera to it to see back of jaws but going to have to build a mount with protection for camera, probably magnetic mount so I can move it around.

A camera would be cool if you didn't break it. :)

Before my Brother had his sale I had access to a Bobcat T300. Man you could pull a lot of trees with that setup. Could pull trees way faster than the tractor with Grapple could pile them. :)

I think I mentioned this before. My Puller is second in it's value only to the Grapple. If maintaining a timbered property it's essential. :)

Seems to me like the tree trunk would have to bend a lot to tweak the loader.

The bigger, harder to pull trees are not likely to bend much.

I was hopeing LouieJunior would see this and chime in, since he has one.

Here is his thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...r-pleased-my-new-post3845905.html#post3845905

The loader tweaking concern is putting the majority of the lift on one beam, similar to trying to load one end of the bucket. This will certainly twist the FEL frame if abused. Very common to see threads on here about users that discover their FEL bucket doesn't sit flat on the shop floor anymore. Caused by overloading one end.

Yep, that is why I said the tree trunk would have to bend for that to happen.

If the trunk stays straight the loader frame can't twist.

The clamping surface digging into the tree trunk alone would be enough to twist the FEL frame. Then throw in the fact that your left rear tire is in the air and bingo, twisted FEL frame.

I either don't understand you or I don't agree with your analysis. Lol. :confused3:
