My wife and me, drove to the big city the other night, went to a big buffet meow chow place for supper... There was an mid aged fellow in there with what I assume was his young son, and he (the older gentleman) was open carrying...

Lots and lots of folks in there and I didn't see even one person giving him a second glance, and he was walking all over like the rest of us, plus sitting in a both where his S&W was exposed for all to see...

He was dressed in "country style" clothing, just like I was, and looked to be a working man, just like I am too, so I don't believe he was a LEO or anything like that.

IF enough folks open carry, the libs will get use to the idea...and quit whining when they see it.

SR

Re: My "why I carry a firearm " rant

FYI - We "morons" wouldn't think twice about 'poppin a cap'into you if you tried.

I am ex-military and know how to defend myself without a weapon. I just prefer not to get blood on me.
LOL gee you guys are touchy! First, I was joking... I would not encourage violence against the mentally challenged. Second, everyone knows how tough you are, walking around like a wanna be Cop, showing everyone you're carrying a gun. Apparently, you live in a really scary place (or you're just a sissy) if you need to broadcast to the world that you are carrying a gun.

The world (and Police) has enough problems, enough to worry about without wondering whether or not the guy walking around displaying his gun is either a mentally challenged or otherwise dangerous individual.

Oh...And thank you for your service in the military.

Hmm.. I'm not comfortable with the assumption that someone who is legally open carrying is mentally handicapped or a sissy. That's a very myopic point of view and feeds the libs just as well. Legal and responsible gun owners need a unified front.
If its legal, and appropriate, I just dont see the benefit of equating some to a sissy or as handicapped?

Ok, I appreciate that... but can you please explain rationally, and realistically, why someone would need to Open Carry, instead of exercising their right to carry concealed like the other 95% or higher (my guess, based on experience) of CPL holders... Besides just showing off to the world that they're "exercising their right" just for the sake of doing so...?

Though Im not 100% behind open carry yet, I will defend your right to do so.

I think if you stumbled in on a store robbery while open carrying you would be the first one they take out or disarmed if you're lucky.

Seems to me concealed is the way to go, but to each his own... I would rather keep them guessing !

In my case, it's normally because I have to run to the gas station, hardware store or elsewhere. Most often, I conceal with a vest or something...but when I'm working down on the field, it's open carry. If I have to get fuel, store run, etc., I don't worry about concealing.
Although I don't hunt, I know of a number of hunters who pack a handgun for varmints. Most of them carry opening while hunting. However, when they travel between home and the hunting camp, they'll stop for breakfast...fuel, things like that.
And, I agree with those who normally carry openly since it is, in fact, a constitutional right.

No one has to explain their need to carry open to your satisfaction, you don't get to decide what others need to do to satisfy your paranoia. It's my legal right to do so and my decision where I do it.Typical liberal thinking everyone should comply and forfeit their rights just because you're butt hurt.

Open carry on the field, while hunting, etc... That's different. At the gas station, restaurant, etc... Still no rational reason in why you would have to display a weapon while eating your burger.

LOL good job... typical narcissist. I'm am avid supporter of intelligent, responsible gun ownership and concealed carry. In fact, I host CPL classes on my property. Your lack of an intelligent response speaks volumes. "Just because I can" is a pathetic response. You also have the Right to wear a clown costume to a job interview, doesn't make it a good decision.

Because I can is all the reason anybody needs. Don't like it, don't do it but pretending you somehow have the moral high ground is asinine. Again, no one has to ask your permission to exercise their rights. I don't have a clown costume, can I borrow yours ?
