I'Let see if a I can get one on clearence.

I'll be using my 3 gal back pack, just dump out the 24d mix and fill with diesel, weed spraying time will be over by then and it usually takes me about 3 gallons to get all the piles going good. The count is up to 10 now and there will be more by the time the season is over.

I'm not sure why people are having problems starting fires. Starting fires is easy. Here's an idea: get out the welder near the brush pile and try to weld something up. Guaranteed you'll start a fire.

Haha The only time I have had trouble was with fresh cut trees. In that case I used feed bags and diesel. The sprayer is intriguing because I'm thinking I could burn a thorny mess in place on my barb wire and T post fence line. Pasture on one side and rough lawn on the other.

I've got 3 huge burn piles that won't need more than a match.

Mate, we're not having problems. We're discussing alternative ways of doing it.

And yes, using a welder on a tinder dry, no-burning anywhere kind of day is guaranteed to start a bushfire. But I don't have a welder.

Use a disc grinder then. I found out that is an excellent way to set grass on fire :)

Anyone else use diesel in the sprayer? Sounds interesting.

I just had some concrete work done and that is what the contractor did to pretreat his forms so the forms would release. Spray diesel fuel on them with a garden sprayer.

:) Yep, that'll work. In fact that's how a bloke in WA started a bushfire last summer.

I believe that it darn near destroyed a town... several properties & houses before it was finally put out.

People doing these activities in dry areas should sprinkle water on their surroundings before and after working, then when finished, sit around with a beer and watch for smoke.

That is what i am struggling with. If you have to go to all this to start a fire I am wondering how forest fires ever get started. All you need to do is put a match or a lighter up to some paper or dry grass or leaves and you have a fire. I light a brush pile about every month and never had an issue.
