Thoughts on this grapple from a local dealer?

Ordered the QD's this morning, along with 1.5" snap rings. Haven't decided to try to make my own vs. having Brian do it. Have the 1 1/2" hole saw on order as well, only need a piece of 3/16" sheet metal.

Hopefully thats a typo......gonna have a hard time fitting a 1-1/2" coupler through a 1/2" hole.

Also would be worth test drilling a hole to check fit. Sometimes hole saws can get a little sloppy.

Correct, 1 1/2", poor typing plus lack of reading check.....

I bought one of McMaster's higher end (hopefully) hole saws, but yea I'll do a check hole or two.

LD1, do you know if anyone makes a 7241-B push/pull coupler (i.e.2-way slide / Breakaway coupler)? I can't find one. I did find poineers 5675 series but that's it.

Because that's what I had on my previous tractor so that's what I put on this one and my attachment. Starting to wonder if I should cut my losses and switch...

Wonder why Kubota prefers it?

We use the series B almost exclusively in about every factory I have worked in.

To say one is better than the other (AG, Series A, Series B)......No idea. Dont really see any functional difference, just slight differences so they wont interchange.

Kinda like all the different couplers and tips (automotive style, industrial, etc) for pneumatics.

Or why komatsu had to have their own bastard 30 degree fitting instead of the 37' JIC?

All the options only confuse people.

Regarding the hydraulic couplers......there is nothing special about any of them. If you could use one for a particular application, the other two would also work equally as well. So why the industry has 3 very similar....and also very popular coupler styles.....that is almost impossible to tell the difference with the naked eye without have something to reference.......is way beyond my paygrade.

Ok not much of an update but unfortunately, it's a good news, bad news story:

The good news is that Hydraulicstore.com (Trausch Dynamics) came though and delivered 6 sets (female and male) of AG ISO 5675 1/2" Two Way Sleeve connectors yesterday. (I guess the third time was the charm LD!). The reason I ordered from them despite another member's bad luck with them is the fact that I could go through and understand their website and knew that I was ordering exactly what I wanted. Plus their prices were pretty good compared to others (Parker dealers I'm talking to you here.) McMaster also came through with their order for 25 1 1/2" snap rings - no big surprise there.

Now I have to go out to the shop, put the female connectors together with their snap rings and then decide to make or buy *what should have been a simple off the shelf purchase but wasn't* of the bulkhead mount. If I decide to buy, anyone have a decent, quick, easy-to-learn 2 dimensional drawing software (that's free hopefully) where I could draw a simple diagram?

The other goods news is that my Bailey's order was processed and the valve, PB plug and two cylinders are one their way here and should arrive next Thursday or so.


The bad news is that National Implement (and/or Construction Attachments) did not send me the correct kit for the 3rd Function. I blame NI mostly since their website did not ask nor was there any way to input my tractor model, loader model and cab/no cab information; all necessary information according to CA. I followed up my order with that information with an e-mail to both NI and CA, and both were acknowledged; but apparently that info didn't make it to the shipping department. So pretty much a whole day wasted yesterday and probably another week before I get the correct kit depending on whether I have to send this one back first or not. Since I e-mailed them yesterday afternoon, I won't even get a response until Monday at the earliest.

Oh well, life is tough, then you die.

Check to see how thick of a plate you can use for a bulkhead mount. Using bulkhead style and snap rings, I'd want as thick as it will allow.

Then price a 1-1/2" drill bit. Do you have capability to drill some holes? Or at the very least, get the metal, pilot all the holes with a 1/4" bit, and swing by a machine shop. I can imagine it would cost more than $25 to have the simply drill a few holes.

What valve did you get from Baileys? If you got the same chief I did, There is no directions as to where the PB plug goes, but there is only 1 port it fits in. And I didn't mention it in my thread, but the PB plug was just a hair too long. When torqued in, it bound up the one spool on that side. No big deal, just shaved .010" off on the lathe. But could have easily been done with a file, grinder, belt sander etc. So just something to keep an eye out for. Same with any valve really, once all your ORB port adapters are installed, make sure all spools still operate smoothly. Which is why I install the fittings on the bench before mounting everything

First thing I checked this morning: It looks like .250" (1/4") plate will work after careful measuring (I'll post pics later when I find my phone....).

I bought a brand new hole saw from McMaster when I got the snap rings. Still haven't decided to make or buy.... But I'm leaning toward buy since it would about 20-25 miles just to buy the steel. 1/4" x 4" or 5"" wide would be perfect, but all I've got is 3/8" x6" and that's simply too big (and thick).

Good to know about the PB plug, I'll test fit it and fix any interference issues.
