Recently imported some collapsible, palletized wire crates for our firewood:

Each crate holds about 1/4 cord: I might be shy 1/4 cord in that shot- tractor struggles to lift a crate that's filled to the brim with green wood; I'm close to purchasing a larger tractor that'll lift and stack these with ease. I am in the process of building a woodshed to stack these in.
As I need wood at the house I will use the tractor w/pallet forks to grab a crate and drop it off on the deck. Total wood-handling is drastically reduced.
I have a Polaris Brutus that I'll hook up a log splitter to and go out on the property and cut and split wood. The tractor will then come along with a crate and I'll fill and haul. I have a small dual axle trailer that is towable behind the Polaris; I can load it with one or two crate (have only done one so far); the bed of the Polaris is supposed to handle a pallet -it'll carry up to 1k lbs, so maybe another one there. Here's a picture of the Polaris with the trailer hooked up to it (had just picked up the trailer -FREE!- and have since put on new tires):
