Thank you all for your help, I will fully enjoy it! Pics will be somewhere when it arrives. And mods. From what it seems like on this forum, mods are a significant part of the tractoring experience. Already ordering my bucket hooks & D-rings! BTW, How useful is a 2" receiver on a box blade? Best thing since sliced bread, or not that useful?

Congratulations on a good choice that will serve you well for many years. That said, will you be able to keep the 8N also? There are some projects that just work out better if you have a second tractor to save you swapping implements, etc. Besides, the old ones bring back memories if you're old enough!

Please clarify.

By 2" receiver on a box blade, I mean how some people weld a hitch receiver to the back of their box blades. Just seems useful to me, for pulling log splitter etc around without removing the BB. Just looking for some input.

Yes, I will be able to keep the 8N. She ain't much for work right now. Ignition system needs completely gone through, and I suspect a valve job is in order as well as a cleaned/properly tuned carb. I have only really be using it for the last year (we used to hire any work on the property out), and the more I use it the more issues I find. Trying to brush hog with it was about the limit of my sketchyness factor, what with the 1/8"+ of play in the PTO shaft, and more play in the steering than I will attempt to describe. A think a restoration is in order

Put 320 lbs of wheel weights on it, even with filled tires. It made a world of difference on mine.

That depends on your specific conditions. Box Blades lie well aft of the tractor. They bounce up and down at the rear considerably crossing rough ground. If a log splitter has small wheels it will upset.

Electric log splitters are simpler and cheaper than tractor hydraulically powered log splitters.

Good call. My MX5100 is the best overall tractor I have ever owned.

Well, I've made up my mind. I'm sticking with the MX5100 HST 4x4. Enough back and forth on this and that. I've committed to it, and it has a good number of advantages that I really like. And the money wouldn't quite be the same on the 1754.
I paid for $28,000 for the MX5100 with SSQA loader, two rear remotes w/ float, loader diverter valve, filled tires, and a 6' box blade. Probably more than I should have paid, but that's water under the bridge. Now, I just can't wait to put it to work!

If I end up slicing open a sidewall on the R1 Ags, I'll just go to 8 ply industrials, at least on the front.

Congrats on the purchase.

Gotta watch putting R4's on only the front. Gotta keep the tire height the same as to not screw up the 4wd and put things on a bind. The wheels are probably different too.

But when I was looking at the tractors on the lot, the factory R4 front tires were the same height as the R1's. So I dont think 4wd would be an issue, except for maybe putting them on the R1 rims. I havent researched it that much.

Now we need to talk you into a Top N tilt:thumbsup:
